Miss Jewel Porter, bride-elect,
who will be married on May 1st,
in the. Warsaw Baptist Church to
H. C. Allen, Jr., was complimented
Thursday evening when Miss Jan
ice Draughon entertained at a tea
towel hemming and shower, at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Allen Draughon.
Throughout the rooms were,
lovely arrangements of yellow
rambler roses and wisteria. The
dining table, overlaid with a 'lace
cloth, was centered with a hovelty
bride's doll, made from kitchen
utensils and dish towels. This was
presented the honoree.
Miss Draughon, who will sing in
the wedding, presented Miss Porter
with a gift of crystal and she also
received the tea towels.
. Mrs. J. A. Porter, mother of the
honoree, poured punch and Mrs.,
Draughon assisted her daughter in
serving sandwiches, cheese biscuits
and macaroons.
Celebrates Their
Silver Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Strickland
Strickland celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary Wednesday
evening when they were honored
at the home of their daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Belton Minshew, on Col
lege St. Mrs. Strickland, before
her marriage on April 23, 1922, at
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. A. Grady, near Warsaw, was
Miss Myrtle Grady.
The Minshew home was artistic
ally decorated with bridal flowers
of white snapdragons and carna
tions: and on the buffet was a mas
sive arrangement of the same.
The dining table overlaid with a
lace cloth, was centered with a
three tiered wedding cake, topped
with a silver anniversary symbol,
surrounded by roses, fern, lilies of
of the valley and burning bridal
tapers, tied with miniature silver
bells. In the gift room were ar
rangements of spirea and fern.
Greeting the guests at the door
were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Strick
land and Miss Hazel Strickland
introduced them to the receiving
line composed of the honor guests,
Miss Verna Strickland, Mr. and
Mrs. Belton Minshew and son Brad
ley Minshew. Receiving in the gtft
room was Mrs. Hubert Brown of
Kenansville, and Miss Gaynell
Taylor presided at the register,, and
showed the way to the dining room,
where they were served individu
al bridal cakes, mints and nuts toy
Misses Sara Gaylor, Jo Anne Britt
and Georgia Anne Hopkins and
Mrs. M. V. Orr, Jr. Miss Mae Brock
poured punch. In the den guests
were presented attractive bridal
favors by Mrs. Stacy Britt and
goodbyes were said to Mr. and
Mrs. Milford Quinn.
Approximately 150 guests called
during the hours 8 to 10.

The Mineral Springs H.D. Club
met Tuesday in the home of Mrs.

Mrs. Ruby Holmes presiding and

Miss Clontz discussed the trip to
New York being planned and will
begin June 9 and last through
June 14, with chartered buses car
rying the members. The trip fare
will be $41 and anyone desiring
accomodations are asked to get in
touch with Miss Clontz at once.
The $41 tee covers all traveling,
hotel, meals, and sightseeing fees.
-' The next meeting will be May 13
in the home of Mrs. Ruby Holmes.
