C, man was disclosed this week to be the "lost" heir to the proceeds of a 42-year-old life insurance policy he didn't know existed. The man is Jessie E. Westbrook, of R. F. D. No. 1, He is the sur yiving son of William A. Westbrook, a North Carolina farmer to whom the policy was issued in 1905 by The Mutual Life Insurance ' Company of New York. Mr. Westbrook named his wife, Mattie, beneficiary of the policy, but in 1908 he ceased paying premiums and endorsed the contract as a paid-up . In the nearly four decades since that-time, the insurance com pany heard no word either from the insured or the beneficiary. In checking on the paid-up policies in its files recently, the company sought to trace the North Carolina farmer. Through this injury the company learned that Air. Westbrook had died in March, 1944," thai; the beneficiary also was dead and that a surviving son, Jessielived in Kenansville. The latter had not known of the ezistance'of the J. O. Kennedy.
