To Home Makers
Safety precautions really pay in
protecting children at this season
are: Put hoes, rakes and other tools
away promptly after use to prevent
accidents from sharp points and
cutting edges.

where children may wander free
from broken glass, protruding nails,
broken tools and tin cans.. Have a
secure cover for every well and 'ill
up any well not in use. Keen in
secticides, medicines, and matches
where children cannot reach them.
Never leave tub of hot water
where children may fall in them.
Keep guns unloaded and out of
reach of children.
Always turn handles ot cooking
utensils away from the edge of the
stove so that youngsters cannot
reach them.
Slate College Hints
To Home Makers
For variety plus flavors from the
flower world, try- honey.
Use honey to sweeten cool fruit

the fruit includes a tart kind, such
as grapefruit, add honey alone.
Use honey with fruit salads
ambrosia fruit salad, f'.r example:
Pe;l and slice oranges and dip
the slices in honey, then in shred
ded cocnanut. Place the slices on
lettuce and top with berries or
cherries.

viable performance in mechanizing
their farms, except where they have
let accidents mar the records, Lacy
Weeks, county agent said today.
America leads the world in me
chanized agriculture. Three million
tractors now play a vital role in the
production and harvesting of the
nation's crops, Mr. Weeks said. But
at the same time reports that trac
tors may be involved in nearly 75
of all accidents with farm machin
ery. All these accidents are need
less. The main safety rule for operat
ing tractors in the field is just good
common sense. You can't afford
to gamble the loss ot a limb or life
by operating without the power
lake off sheielcl in place. Cranking
a tractor while in gear is another
dangerous way to start a day's work.
Excessive speed, and careless oper
ation around ditches will also hurry
a trip to the hospital. Jumping off
the tractor while in motion is an
other way to invite an accident.
Careless parents who permit child
ren to ride tractors or hitch a ride
on trailing implements are not real
ly thinking about the child's welfare.
