Arey, State College, re ports this week that North Caro lina's fall series of junior cattle shows, just concluded, has been un- usuauy successiui mis year. TJhe shows, sponsored by business firms and civic organizations were held under the direction of the College's dairy extension depart ment. A total -of 710 registered dairy cattle were shown by boys and girls under 21 years of age in four dis tricts shows which covered the en tire State. A banquet was held in connection with each show. In addition to the district shows approximately 800 calves were shown in 18 county and local shows which served as preliminary , elimination contests for the larger events. Burgaw Police Taxi Driver Burgaw, Oct. 14. In a further effort to crack down on the ship ment of whiskey intd dry Pender County, Burgaw police arrested a Wallace taxi driver and his woman companion and charged them with violation of the liquor laws. Released under bond are Norman Cottle and Mrs. Vera Bradshaw. Porter Ward said that 15 pints of tax paid whiskey, purchased in SUN. - MON.
