v- Circle No. 3' of the Methodist
Church met . Tuesday night with
Mrs. Paul Hunter with Mrs. J. C.
Surratt presiding. The meeting
opened with a hymn. Mrs. R. L.
Crossno led the devotional and
closed with prayer. 13 members
were present and one visitor. Mrs.
G. P. Pridgen taught the Mission
study. Mrs. Crossno presented the
4th chapter.' In a- blrdy conetst led
by Mrs. Belton MJnshew Mrs. Mil
ton West won a prize. The hostess
served strawberry shortcake and
coffee. ,
SISTERS ENTERTAIN
Mrs. F. A. Mltchener and Miss
Alice. Fussell were hostesses on
Tuesday evening when theysenter
tained at six tables of bridge at
the Fussell home. Arrangements of
roses and black-eyed suaans deco
rated the home. For high score Mrs.
Robert Frederick reselved a grease
set Second high, a skirt rack, went
to Mrs. Hector McNeil. For low,
Mrs. Maurice Jordan' won a potted
plant Mrs. Ed Hines received an
artistic calendar for traveling.

and drinks were served and at the
conclusion the hostesses served a
chicken salad, pickles, olives, che
ese biscuits and coffee.;

tin entertained her plub at her
apartment on College St Mrs. Bel
ton Minshew received high score
prize, a novelty plant In doll shaped
pot Traveling, a china cup and
saucer, went to Mrs. Minshew also.
Mrs. Earl Whi taker , won hot pads
for low. During the game potato
chips ana drinks were passed. Con
gealed salad, ritz and coffee were
enjoyed at conclusion, Goldenrod
ornamented the rooms where two

for Robert P. Ralford, 73, who died
in a hospital at Kalamazoo, Mich.,
on Wednesday, Sept 27th. He had
been in declining health for many
years. Services were conducted by
the Rev. R. L. Crossno, pastor of
the Warsaw Methodist Church
where he was a member for a num
ber of years. Interment was in
Pinecrest Cemetery. '":.:"''
Mr. Raiford was born on Decem
ber 15, 1873, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Benjamin Raiford of Wayne
County. He farmed near Warsaw
for many years, moving from Dup
lin County to Kinston. He lived
there for a number of years, oper
ating a store with thlfr late W. H.
Davenport In Deep Ron during a
part of that time. He left Kinston
about 10 years agdTind had been
living In Michigan for some time.
Surviving are two sons, W. Rob
ert Raiford, Kinston, an employee
of the Kinston Post Office, and
Ralph P. Ralford of Dowagiac,
Mich.; a brother, John Ralford of
near Seyen Springs; a sister, Mrs,
Oscar Tew of near Goldsboro; ane
granddaughter and two grandsons;
and a number of nieces, nephews
and' cousins. ('.- .

Mrs. Dora Outlaw, 63, died at 11:
15 'a.m. Friday at her home in the
Summerlln's Crossroads ' commun
ity after a few hours of illness fol
lowing a cerebral hemorrhage.- ; ,

land Outlaw; four sons, Marable,
of Nashville, Tenn., Ervin, Cecil,
and Clifton, all of the home; five
daughters, Mrs. Frank Grady, Mt

Newport News, Va., Mrs. Herman
Waters and Miss Adele Outlaw,

Rooty Branch Free Will Baptist
church, of which Mrs. Outlaw bad
been a member for several years, at
8:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
The pastor, Rev. Stephen Smith,
was in charge. Burial was in the
family cemetery near the home.
