The Young Ladles of the Baptist
Church held their monthly meeting
Monday night at the home of Mrs.
Orzo Thlgpen. Program . for i the
month, "God Is Moving, Who Can
Hinder," was discussed by Mes
dames Ruth Sanderson, Orvis Thlg
pen, P. E. Thlgpen, Sidney Hunter,
Louise Brown and Marlon Bratcher.
The meeting was dismissed by
group singing, followed by prayer.
The hostess served pecan pie and
coca colas to 10 members present.
The February meeting will be
held in the home of Mrs. J. Macon

Gerald Quinn Honored r
Mrs. T. R. Quinn entertained on
Saturday night honoring her son
Gerald on his 14th birthday. ,'.
Many games and contests were
enjoyed. The hostess served chicken
salad, cookies, sandwiches, candy
and iced drinks to 92 guests.

home by fire. Two of the quilts
were furnished by the Women of
the Church and the other by Mrs.

Mrs. Andrew Miller welcomed
visitors and members, of Circle No.
2 who had assisted In quilting the
quilts. The hostess assisted by Mrs.
Walter Miller served potato sal
ad plate, fried chicken, hot "rolls,
coffee and cocoanut j'ie.

Circle No. I of the PresDyterlan
Church met Tuesday night in the
home of . Mrs. Murphy- Thlgpen.
Mrs. Phoebe Pate, chairman, pre
sided. The.'BIble Study was given
by Mrs. M. M. Thlgpen. World Mis
sions Was given by Mrs. Phoebe
Pate. Meeting was dismissed with
prayer. The hostess served iced
drinks,, crackers, ' pickles, stuffed
dates and salted nuts to the 9
members present.
Birthday Party .
Mrs. Larry Bostlc entertained on
Saturday4 afternoon honoring her
son Butch on his 4th birthday.
Games were enjoyed by the 30
little guestfs., after which Mrs.
Bostlc served cake and Ice cream
on attractive party plates and nap
kins carrying out the Valentine
motif. Party candy cups filled
with valentine hearts were given
as- favors. Butch received a vast
assortment of gifts.

Pickett, 71, wife of the late John
A. Pickett, were held at the grave
side in the family cemetery Wednes

Miller Child Escapes
Serious Arm Injury
Little Jimmie Miller, 3-year-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. James Miller
af Beulaville escaped serious injury
Monday when his right hand got
caught In a washing machine. It
had pulled young Jimmy's arm in
to the moving parts and was just
before wringing it off at the shoul
der. The arm was bruised badly
and the skin grazed in a number of
places.' Dr Bolin examined it and
decided no bones were broken.

Name Leaders
The Cabin Home Demonstration
club met Wednesday afternoon on
Jan 24 in the home of Mrs. Nor
wood Nprris with Mrs; Bland Noble
presiding. Miss Hilda Clontz talked
on the club outlook for 1951. Pro
ject leaders were named for. the
coming year after which refresh
ments were served to approximately
20 members and 5 visitors.
