Starting Date For Old Age Insurance Is Important The new starting date for figur ing old-age and survivors insurance benefit payments is important to everyone now employed or self employed in work covered by so cial security. In explanation of this statement. Mr. N. A. Avera, manager of the Wilmington social security office. points out th:t work after 1950 can be used alone for figuring the amount of the benefit payment. Everyone who has been in work covered by social security contin uously since January 1, 1951. will be full insured by the middle of the present year. If he reaches age 65 and decides to retire, he will be eligible for old-age -enc-1 fit payments; if he should die f-, ter a year and a half of covered work after 1950, his survivors can get benefit payments. He and his family will have this insurance protection until July 1954.
