Miss Elaine Couch spent the weekend in Asheboro with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Couch. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Isley attended a Christmas concert by the University Choir at the University of North Caro lina Greensboro, on Sun day afternoon. Their grand mother. Miss Betty Isley. dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Isley, is a member of the choir. They returned by Win ston-Salem and were over night guests of their daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs Charles Robinson. Sgt.-6 David E. Brogdon Given Dinner On Sunday, the family of W. C. Brogdon honored him with a dinner at their home at South River, Highway 601, celebrating his birthday. He was 67 years of age on Mon day, December 13. Those at tending were Mrs. Nellie Pierce and children of Char lotte, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kelly Brcgdon and children of Lexington, and Mr. and Mrs Foyle Brogdon and family of Cooleemee. Morning Circle Meeting Held The Morning Circle of the Woman's Society of Christian Service cf Cooleemee Metho dist Church met at the church Wednesday morning. December 15th at 10:00. The president. Mrs. Bob Stewart presided over the brief busi ness session. Mrs. Stewart also presented a most interesting Christmas orogram entitled, "Christmas Without A Price." The pro gram stimulated a discussion among the ten members present concerning ways to bring Christmas to shut-ins and how to make Christmas real all year. C. Tatum enter tained her Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church at her home with a Christmas party. She present ed each of them with a gift from her kitchen, of pickles or jelly. The class gave her a lovely gift An appropriate devotional was given and games enjoyed. Dainty sand wiches, cookies and Christ mas dainties were served. In stead of exchanging gifts, each brought the price of a gift and gave it as a Love offering to Foreign Missions. GOP Women Have Party On Thursday evening, De cember 9. 18 members of the Republican Woman's Club held a Christmas Party at the home of Mrs. George Schla densky on Crestview Drive, Mocksville. Prior to the mest ing, a group of members went to the Lynn Haven Rest Hrme and sang Christmas ca rols to the patients there. Af ter a short business session by the president, Mrs. Lilli an Gregory, Mrs. Ruby Oneal was in charge of the enter tainment. Ten were prize win ners. At the close of the meeting, guests were invited into the dining room for re freshments. Making the oc casion more festive was the cpen fire and candlelight. The hostess had many beautiful decoration* throughout the home. Manning Huske returned to Washington D. C. for 12 weeks of business instruction, after spending the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Huske. ■ affr jg& , Night Circle Holds Meeting The Night Circle of the Methodist W.9.C.5. met at the home of Mrs. C. N. Rabold for its December meeting. Mrs. W. R. Wands was co-hostess. Mrs. W. C. Moore, mother of Mrs. Wands, and Mrs. M. H. Hoyle, Sr. were visitor*. The president, Mhi, Bob Hoyle, opened the mating with prayer and presided wer the business session. The mem bers voted to send a Christmas offering to the Brooks Howell Home in Asheville. Mrs. C. L- Isley was program leader and was assisted .by Mrs. John Barber in prenant ing a most inspiring program on "Symbols in Christmas Art". The worship center oan tained a nativity scene, lighted candles, a purple bow of rib bon, a madonna and a red me, all symbols of Christmas. During the social hour the members were invited into the dining room for Christmas re freshments. Mrs. Robold's home m beautifully decorated for the Christmas meeting.
