Studies I Bible WILLIAM I H. YOUNG t Minister | DO YOU REALLY TRUST GOD? "But godliness with con tentment is great sin. For we brought nothing into this world, and it Is certaih we can take nothing out. And having food and rainment let us there with be content" (1. Tim. 6:6- 7) Inspired truth has here with given us a set of values which we cannot afford to ig nore. Here are things of real value and it is high time we carefully consider those things which we have we could not earn. We are told that 65 per cent of the patients in our hospitals are not physically ill, but are there due to men tal pressures and disturbances. We have become addicted to tranquilizers for a cure for hyper-tension and "nerves, while all the time we imbibe "pep pills" to spur us on in a mad "rat-race" of daily frus tration. As we struggle to "get ahead" we seldom ask who or what we 4re trying to get ahead of Americans are bet ter fed and better clothed than any people on earth. So why the haunting ifear of starving or poverty? There Is no present shortage of bless ings, but we are still driven by a consuming urge to lay up treasures on earth. No man is content who strives to keep abreast of the times in style and riches. Any man who truly believes God will supply all his needs, and will never forsake him, has no need to be anxious. A strong reliance on God's providence and care precludes anxiety and doubts. Heart at tacks, nervous disorders, and high - blood pressures stem from discontent. And such ma ladies have become common in our generation. Yet all this could be avoided bya strong and abiding faith in God. For when we truly trust in Him it removes all anxiety, discon tent, and frustration. The crea ture is well-adjusted only when serving the purposes of the Creator; and it is only in compliance to the Will of God that true peace and con tentment can be had both here and hereafter.
