Sherm Beats The Rap: A Truth Bench' Fable Ever since we came to Cooleemee, folks have been telling me about the "Truth Bench" at the hardware. Marfene and Cttngman say it's against the rules (there to tall a Ue whole sitting on the bench. Weil, Sherm Shoaf sat iti£*t there on the Truth ' Bench test week and told a story that makes me wonder. Shenn said he was driving a truck load of birds through Georgia when he came to a weight station. He knew he was overweight by 5,000 pounds and he figured he was going to get a ticket. What he did, Uhougi, was stop the truck/ get out and beat the rear end with a stick. TOiat made all the bints fly around back there. Lo and behold, when they weighed his truck, it was 5,000 pounds underweight! So he says. That may be the truth, but it sounds more like One of my alibis when my wife catches me tippy-toeing from "work" late at night. (Who says sweating out a flush isn't work?)
