Thanksgiving
Service Set
For Nov. 22
The sixth annual community
Thanksgiving service win be
held at the Cookemee Methodist
Church on November 22, at 7:30
p.m. Rev. S. L McKay of the
Presbyterian church will deliver
the sermon. Other participating
members include Rev. Mr. Mull
of Jerusalem Baptsit, Rev.
Chas. Burchette. First Baptist,
and Rev. Claude Hartsell of the
Methodist Church.
Special music will be
presented by the Cooleemee
Methodist choir under the direc
tion of Miss Mariola Crawford.
A special offering will be
taken during this service to help
needy people in the community
during the holiday season.
Everyone. regardless of
denomination, is urged to attend
this service.
Legion Post 54
Plans Big Supper
Cooleemee 'Legion Post No. 54
will celebrate the conclusion of
its membership drive with a big
steak and chicken supper at the
school cafeteria from 4 to 6 p.m.
for all 1967-68 members.
The post has a goal of 202'
members this year. At present,
there are 150 members who
have signed up. Commander L.
C. Dedman urges all who
haven't paid their dues ($4 75)
to) do so as soon, as possible.

Mrs. Harry F. Moore, 67 r tftr
former Mary Elizabeth Tatunz
of the Jerusalem Community,
died in StatesviUe.
Among those attending the
funeral at New Sterling A.R.P-
Church were Miss Annie Pearfe
Tatum, her only sister; Mrs. E.
C. Tatum Sr., her sister-in-law -
her nephew and wife, Mr. and
Mrs. E. C. Tatum Jr., and Mrs.
Henry Shoaf, the Rev. and Mrs.
James E. Mull and Mrs. Hattie
Tutterow.
Other survivors include two
daughters, Mrs. David W. Sides
of Sony Point, Rt. 2, and Mrs.
Fred D. Summers Jr. oi Chapel
Hill
Mrs. Moore was educated at
Cooleemee High School, - Mars
Hill College and Meredith. She
majored in home economics,
taught for several years in the
Iredell County Schools and was
a leader in Iredell Home
Demonstration work.
After her marriage to the late
Mr. Moore, she joined New
Sterling A.R.P. Church and for
over 25 years was a faithful
and active leader. The new
education building of the church
is named in her honor.

mee, returned to Pensacola, Fla.
where he is stationed in the Air
Force.

WINNER—Joan Strood, on behalf of the Oooleanee Drag
Company, presents the Wilson Family Fun and Play ]Qt
to Kenny Hampton of 22 Watt Street, winner of the Bezel
Vita-Rama Contest. Kenny guessed closest to the number
of vitamins on display in the Drag Store which was 3,448.
His guess was 3,500. The kit contained a volley ball, football,
and badmiton set
