Sh«ph«rd C. W. Shepherd Loves His Persimmon Tree Mr. C. W. Shepherd of 4S Main Street is very proud of his persimmon tree tins year. He bought this improved Japanese tree about five years ago from Butty's Garden Shop and it has been bearing fruit the size of oranges, for the past three years. "They are not bitter like the eld-tfaney persimmons," ex plained Mr. -9>ephard. "And .When they are ripe, they are good to eetj like any other fruit' 7 Mrs. Shepherd has made lots tf puddings from these persim mons and says they are Just as good as the old-fashioned kind, without i)Daarly the work involved in preparing them. Wood fas f Bazaar The Woodlesf Methodist Church will hold its SBth annual Bazaar and chicken pie supper at the Woodleaf school cafeteria on Saturday, November 18,. Serving will be from 9 p.m. until t p.m.. The women of the church have also donsted a variety of articles that will be on sole, many of which will make lorety gifts. For House Gilben Lee Boger has an nounced that he will be a can didate for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives. Boger said, "Because of the excellent cooperation I have received from the people of this district, I have decided to offer myself as a candidate for the House again. I feel that the ex perience I gained during the last session should enable me to do a better job if the people of this district should see fit to return me in 1969." Boger, 40, is a native of Davie County and a graduate of Mocksville High School. He is a member of Farmington Masonic Lodge, the N.C. Farm Bureau and Bethlehem Methodist Church. He is married to the former Maxine Smith. They have three children. Boger's committee assignments last term included agri culture, appropriations, roads, irrigation and drainage, manufacturers and labor, public buildings and grounds, senatorial districts and wildlife resources. r
