Ridenhour were honored on their st>th wedding anniversary at a reception given by their children and grandchildren in the fellowship hall oif the First Baptist Church on Sunday, June 22. This was the first tiime in several years that all their children were home together. Mr. Ridenhour presented his wife with a gold wedding band which she had waited 50 years Cooleemee Personols Fosters' Daughter Visits, Mrs. Hartley Has Guest MR. AND MRS. CLINTON MILHOLEN and daughter Kim of Florida spent several days last week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Foster. Before returning home, they plan to spend a short vacation in the mountains and in Siler City with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Milholen. Mrs. Milholen's sister, Mrs. Wayne Nesbit, accompanied them to the mountains. MRS. PEGGY RIDENHOUR and children, Denise and Terry and Mrs. Margie Dedmon and daughters, Cindy and Jo, left Sunday for the Ridenhour s summer home at Long Beach to spend a weeks vacation. MRS. W. A. DARR of Churchland and Mrs. Bertha Beck of Augusta, Ga. spent last week with their sister, Mrs. O. H. Hartley of Center Street. Their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lennet Potts of Clemmons, visited with them on Thursday afternoon. to receive. The refreshment table was covered in white net over satin accented with gold bells and gold ribbon. A centerpiece of yellow rosebuds and yellow carnations, flanked by yellow lighted tapers was used. Fruit punch, decorated cake squares, nuts, mints and cheese biscuits were served to more than 100 guests who called bstween the hours from 2 until 5 pjm. MR. SAM MYERS and Miss Mary Denton are spending this week touring Florida. MR. AND MRS. BOBBY HAMPTON and daughter, Deb bie, and Mrs. Hampton's mother, Mrs. Margaret Brown, spent a recent weekend at Myr tle Beach. MR. AND MRS. LEE OLIN SHEPHERD left Friday for Ardsley, New York to spend several days with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kuhn. Enroute home they plan to stop in Knox ville, Tenn. where Mr. Shepherd's mother, Mrs. Viola Shepherd of Layfette, Ga. is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Luird Shepherd. MR. AND MRS. J. F. GRIMES are spending several days in Havelock this week with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Januzelli Jr. MR. AND MRS. FRANCIS CLARK and "Jock" left Friday morning for a weeks vacation The Rev. Gary Brown officiated Sunday, when Miss Kathryn Annette Miller became the bride of Donald Ray Overcash, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ray Overcash of 50 Duke Street, atCooleemee Methodist Church. Miss Mariola Crawford was organist for the 3:30 p.m. wed ding The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Franklin Miller of Route 1, Woodleaf, was given in marriage by her; father. She wore a floor-length gown of white satin, styled with a scalloped neckline and long, tapered sleeves in a lace bodice and A-line skirt. The dress also had a detachable train, which was attached at the shoulders. Her fingertip, illusion veil fell from a petal headpiece em broidered in seed pearls and crystals. She carried a lace covered prayerbook, centered with an orchid and white pom pons. Miss Barbara Miller of- Woodleaf, matron of honor for her sister, wore a full-length I dress of yellow linen with em pire waist and A-line skirt. Miss Celia Stutts of Salisbury and Mrs. Harold Miller were bridesmaids. Their green dresses were copies of the honor attendant's attire. All three attendants wore petal headpieces and carried cascade bouquets of yellow pompons. James A. Overcash of Masvern, Pa., was best man. Rammie Hall Gibson Jr., of Greensboro and Joe Gibson ushered. Upon return from Florida, the couple will live on Route 1, Woodleaf. The bride traveled in a blue brocade dress and added the orchid from her prayerbook. Mrs. Overcash is a graduate of West Rowan High School, and was employed by Fiber Industries. Mr. Overcash was graduated from Davie County High School, and has served in the armed forces. He is employed at Fiber Industries. at Long Beach. MR. AND MRS. JAMES FOSTER and family of Route 4, left over the weekend for Florida to spend two weeks on a sight-seeing trip. MR. AND MRS. JIMMY HOLT and family are spending a couple days this week vaca tioning at Crescent Beach, S. C. MR. AND MRS. BILL WHITE will leave Wednesday for Arl ington, Virginia to spend several days with her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wagner. MR. AND MRS. DELANO McCULLOUGH and children, Greg, Teressa and Jeff of Greenville, Tennessee spent the weekend here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Gregory of Pine Ridge and Mrs. Mattie Sue McCullough of Route 4. MRS. GERALD CANUPP has returned home from Davie Hospital. Danner of Mocksville and Earl Franklin Shoaf. son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert F. Shoaf of Cooleemee were married on Sunday af ternoon at First United Methodist Church, Mocksville. The Rev. James A. Allen of ficiated. Mike Hendrix played the organ and members of the church choir sang. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She wore a gown of satin and Alencon lace designed with an empire lace bodice with long sleeves and a scoop neckline. Alliquesi of lace and pearls detailed the detachable watteu chapel-length train and the hemline of the A-line skirt. Her bouffant waterfall veil of illusion was attached to a circle of orange blossoms and she carried a cascade bouquet of white pom pons, and stephanotis centered with a white orchid. Miss Sara W. Scott of Cooleemee was maid of honor. Miss Jewell Jordan, Miss Joan ne Cook and Miss Becky Stokes, Mocksville and Miss Susan Hen drix, Advance, were bridesmaids. The attendants wore formal Iressesof chiffon over satin with satin trim at the neckline and sleeves. The honor attendant wore nile green and the bridesmaids wore yellow. They carried long-stemmed Majestic daisies tied with satin streamers. Anita Lynn Bower of Smith Grove was flower girl and Ricky Shackelford of Cooleemee was ringbearer. Mike Jordan, Mocksville; Jimmy Scott, Roger Pierce and Ronnie Shoaf, brother of the bridegroom, Cooleemee, ushered. The bride is a graduate of Davie County High School and of Wingate College as a business major. She is employed by Branch Banking and Trust Co., Mocksville, in the bookkkeeping department. The bridegroom is a graduate of Davie County High School and will be a senior at Ap palachian State University at Boone, majoring in health and physical education and educa tion. He is presently employed by Burlington Industries, Cooleemee division as recrea tion director. For going away, the bride wore a lime green sleeveless. A-line dress and added her orchid. Following the wedding trip to South Carolina Coast, the couple will be at home at 44 Davie Street, Cooleemee, after July 6.
