Campbell Named
State Commander
Charles (Chuck) Campbell,
assistant chief of the Rowan
County Rescue Squad, was re
elected commander of the state
organization during the 13th
annual convention this weekend
in Hickory.
Campbell has been a member
of the local unit for IS years and
currently serves as training
officer and first aid instructor.
The local unit is a charter
member of the state associ
ation, having been a member
for 14 years.
In the state association,
Campbell has served as com
mander, vice commander,
chairman of the advisory, budg
et and credentials committees.
A native of Cooleemee, he is
the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Campbell. He is mar
ried to the former Miss Mary
Goodman, and they are the
parents of two daughters, Kathy
and Lynn. "Hiey reside on Route
6, Salisbury.
A member of Salem Lutheran
Church, Campbell is a member
of the advisory board at Patter
son School.
Jaycees Plan
To Sponsor
Carnival Again
The local Jaycees have an
nounced they will sponsor the
annual Halloween Carnival
again this year.
The Carnival will be held on
Friday, October 31. Further
details will be announced in the
near future.

For Members
Ends Friday
The PTA membership drive
will end on Friday, October 3,
for the Cooleemee School
classes who have been com
peting for first prize in obtain
ing new members.
First place and runner-up
prizes will be awarded to the
class with the most new mem
bers.
Craig Snead, membership
chairman, announced that new
members will be welcome at
any time and this week only
ends the class competition.
