2 juanm, wcuiwmwy, icmm*; K V4 W > ■ Linda Jordan Wins Betty Crocker Award Linda E Jordan, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Scolt Jordan of Main Street, has been named Davie County High School 's 1970 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. Selected on the basis of her score in a December 2, home making knowledge and atti tudes examination for which a record 646.041 senior girls in 15.040 of the nation's high schools were enrolled. She is now eligible for state and na tional honors. She will also re ceive a specially designed silver charm from General Mills, sponsor of the annual education al program. Test papers of all school winners in the state are currently undergoing additional judging, and a State Homemaker of Tomorrow will be named in March. She will be awarded a $1,500 college scholarship; the second-ranking girl in the state receives a SSOO educational grant. Additionally, first-place winners from the 51 states and the District of Columbia- to gether with advisors from their schools -- will receive an expense paid educational tour of Washington, D. C., and Colonial Williamsburg, Va., this spring. Climax of the tour will be naming of the 1970 Betty Crocker All-American Homemaker of Tomorrow, whose scholarship will be increased to $5,000. Three runners-up will also be selected and will be awarded 54,000, $3,0 00 and $ 2,000 scholarships. National judging will center on personal observation and interviews during the tour. Begun by General Mills in the 1954-55 school year, the Betty Crocker Search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow is designed to emphasize the importance of homemakine as a career.
