Crashes Into Mill
A Southern Railway tanker
car, loaded with 23,643 gallons
of heavy type fuel oil, crashed
into the boiler room of Bur

Friday.
Railway claim agent Fred
Campbell and W. L. Jones, ad

damage to the building. The
tanker car was apparently
damaged but little, ifany, in the
mishap that occurred about
noon.
Campbell said that apparent
ly no one except the train crew,
which had already left the
scene, knew the cause of the
accident. The one tanker car
was the only unit of the freight
train that was involved in toe
mishap and it was speculated
that it became uncoupled or that

News
The newest display at the
Main Library is the interesting
old sausage mill which was
pictured in the Enterprise on
March 12. Hie utensil is the
property of Mrs. J. G. Craw
ford, of Cooleemee, and was
cleaned and put into condition
by her brother, Paul Carta*,
and his son. It dates back to the
days when nearly all utensils
and tods were hand-made of
wood rather than the metal
which came later. It is a most
interesting object, and many
will be interested in seeing it,
along with books on antiques of
all kinds.
The Wildlife Display in the
children's section of the Main
Library is attracting both chil
dren and adults in large num
bers. The life-like stuffed woods
creatures arc a timely reminder
of National Wildlife Week,
March 15-21, and our patrons
are loving this traveling exhibit
from the North Carolina Mu
seum of Natural History. It will
be shown here through March
21, so come along and enjoy it!

Administrative manager
Jones explained that the tem

up a certain steam pressure
that is necessary to keep the fire
prevention sprinkler system in
working order.
None of the fuel oil was spilled
as a result of the crash. A ere*
of workmen piped the oil from
the tanker car to Burlington's
storage tanks Saturday.
The tanker has now been re
moved from the position of the
crash but the amount of damage
is still undetermined at this
time.
