Mr. and Mrs. Foster were married on March 16,1920. A lovely bouquet of flowers was delivered to the Foster home, compliments of their neighbors. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. James D. Foster and Mis sy. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Foster and Sonya, Lester Foster, and Mrs. Margie Creason and chil dren, Tim and Vicki of Salis bury. Two Local Men On Mission Team The Rev. Larry Bum garner, pastor of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, and W. A. Kirk of Cooleemee have just returned from a two-week build ing team mission in the Virgin Islands. St. Croix, one of the American Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, is the location of a United Meth odist Church project which started in 1968 with the building of an educational building. Building team members worked with ministers, laymen and women to construct a four bedroom parsonage which will house the minister of a new congregation in the fast-grow ing area of Christians ted In addition to working a full day, they also visited the homes of church members. The building project is spon sored by the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Bookmobile The Washington County Free Library at Hagerstown, Md., was the first library in the country to operate a "book truck service," by means of which books are delivered throughout the country? ROVIE MAYBERRY left Sunday, March 8, for Hyattsville, Maryland to spend some time with her daughter, Mrs. M. G. Foster and family. Mrs. Foster entered the hospitiri for surgery last week but re turned to her home on Friday, and is much improved. Mrs. Mayberry is expected to return home this week. MR AND MRS. ADAM JOR DAN returned home last Wednesday after spending sev eral days visiting their sons in South Carolina. "Hiey were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Jordan and family of Travelers Rest and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jordan and family of Anderson. MIKE WILLIAMS of Seattle, Washington accompanied his aunt, Mrs. Otis Canupp, to Har mony last Monday to spend the day with another aunt, Mrs. Jay Smith. He also visited many relatives here and in Woodleaf during his vacation of more than two weeks. Mike returned to Seattle Monday afternoon. MRS. MIKE SAMPSON, who had been a patient at Forsy'" Memorial Hospital for alma, two weeks, returned to her home in Harmony and is doing nicely. MR. AND MRS. JIM WALK ER of Huntington, West Vir ginia were the weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bimmy Parker and Alisha and Mr. and Mrs. Mike McDaniel. They returned home Monday morning. Davie Students Make Rowan Tech Honors List The honor list of students attending Rowan Technical In stitute during the winter quar ter was announced by Grady S. Lloyd, dean of students. To qualify for the honor list, a student must take a minimum work load of 12 quarter hours and maintain at least 3.0 (B) average with no grade lower thanC. Those from Davie County were: Charles E. Milholen 111, Electronics Technology; Frances Seats Smith, Practical Nurse Education and Shirley Baker Wall, Practical Nurse Education. Conference The following of Cooleemee School participated in the Sup plementary Educational Cen ter's program during the month of February: Miss Susan John son and Miss M?riola Crawford (3rd), Mr. Charles Crenshaw and Mrs. Patsy Crenshaw (Bth), Mrs. Helen Everhart, (sth), Mrs. Mary Davis (4th). MRS. BESSIE NAIL of Route 4, Mocksville and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith of Center Street visited Mrs. Ola Crotts House, who is a patient at the hospital in Albemarle, on Monday. Mrs. Nail, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. House are sisters. MRS PINK FOSTER of Lex ington, formerly of Cooleemee, remains a patient in Lexington Memorial Hospital since Sim day, March 8. She is slightly improved. Miller Receives Commendation TACOMA, Wash. Sergeant Harold M Miller Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Miller, 320 5. Whitehead Ave., Spencer, N.C., has received the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal at McChord AFB, Wssh. Sergeant Miller, a radio re pairman, was decorated for meritorious service while as signed to the U.S. Naval Air Station on Midway Island. He is now at McChord with the 62nd Avionics Maintenance Squadron, a unit of the Military Airlift Command which pro vides global airlift for U.S. mili tary forces. The sergeant is a 1966 gradu ate of North Rowan High School. His wife, Linda, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond H. Gibson, Rt. 4, Mocks ville, N.C.
