Letter To The Editor Dear Miss Marlene: I have been trying to get in a note to you for quite a while, but I was trying to wait until I could submit a few samples of some items which you might use at times as fillers. I know that often a printer does need a filler to complete a column. If you could use, I will be glad to provide them and you could use them when you found a need. As you may know, I had a regular column iff the Journal on the subject of "RELIGION Religion In The Here And Now By REV. NORVIN C. DUNCAN For many years I had a column in the Cooleemee Journal entitled RELIGION IN THE HERE AND NOW. Those who may remember it, may recall that many years ago I predicted the state of affairs today, because it seemed very clear to me that our real behaviour as professed christians, (all Communions) were so at variance that the warnings of the ancient Hebrew prophets were as applicable to our time as then. The contrast between our preaching and practice condemns us before universal law. Christians are in the world to be Christ to the world, manifesting His love, His forgiveness, His attitudes, His concern for others, His sacrifice. The Primitive Church, in its new-found evidence of a future life, and expecting an early return of Jesus, began looking heavenward, while overlooking this life. We have been a long time learning that the eternal life is already begun, and that christians are to begin living this heavenly life HERE AND NOW. If all christians did, the KINGDOM OF GOD would appear upon this earth, and be ready for transplanting into the now invisible, real, heavenly world.
