Davie Library Launches
Summer Reading Program
The Davie County Public Li
brary is launching its annual
summer reading program with
Open House on Monday, May
18, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. The
summer program, its thane,
and guidelines will be dis
cussed. Parents are urged to
attend, as an excellent movie,
Into the Unknown, will be shown
at the Main library. This 27
minute film stresses the impor
tance of books in stimulating the
imagination of children and en
larging their thinking. It illus
trates the needs filled by books
through the mind pictures of
children as they read, and re
flects the delight experienced
by a child as he learns to read
and comes "into the known".
Open House will also offer
parents the opportunity to see
the display of art work done by
Davie County students and pre
viously shown at the Education
Center in Salisbury. The ex
cellent and promising work
shown in a similar display last
year will create an even greater
degree of interest in this show
ing.
The film, the art exhibit and
refreshments served should
make this a pleasant evening
together. Mrs. Nancy Full
bright, incoming librarian, will
be present to introduce and
explain plans for the imagina
tive and interesting county-wide
summer reading program for
the young people of the county.
Children and parents are urged

LOOK FACTS!
L Burlington's new operation will employ ap
proximately SO people. (They feel about 99 percent sure
this operation will remain small.)
2. After six months time services other than recreation
will be re-evaluated. (The small size of the new operation
will not permit Burlington to continue these services in
the future.) _
3. After this year Burlington feels no obligation to
continue the recreation facilities. They will GIVE the
entire recreation facilities to the new town government;
4. Burlington will PRE-PAY one years taxes to get the
town going independently. Also they will GIVE us the
town's water distribution system AND will guarantee
water and sewer service for another industry locating in
Cooleemee by selling it to the town, for resale, IF we
become incorporated.
WHAT COOLEEMEE MUST DO
1. In order for Cooleemee to remain at its present
level or to progress we MUST become independent and be
able to take care of our own.
2. It is true that when we become incorporated
Burlington will pay approximately one half of the tax
load. (This will be a legal obligation not a gift.)
WHAT YOU CAN DO
h REGISTER for the Town election.
2. RUN for Town Council.
3. Vote for INCORPORATION of Cooleemee June 20,
1970.
