Fun In A Flower Patch

having some fun in a flower patch by

warm spring afternoon.

The young woman was breezing along in the left
hand lane when suddenly, and without warning, she
made a sharp right turn and almost slammed into
another car.
"For crying out loud, lady, why didn't you signal?"
yelled the other driver.
"Don't be ridiculous," came the indignant reply. "I
always turn at this corner."
Jaycettes Plan
Card Party
The Cooleemee Jaycettes will
sponsor a card party on June 6,
at the Cooleemee School Cafe
teria. Cards will be furnished
for all types of card games.
There will be many prizes to
play for in addition to the door
prizes. Get together a party of
four for an evening of fun and
support the local jaycettes.
Tickets will soon go on sale
and additional information will
be provided in the next issue of
the Journal.

The books will be open for the
first day of registration on Sat
urday at the Cooleemee School.
This will be a new registration
for all qualified voters in Cool
eemee and everyone must regis
ter in order to vote in the
upcoming election concerning
the incorporation of the town.
The books will remain open
from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. They
will be open again on May 30
and June 6. Challenge day will
be June 13.
All eligible voters are urged to
register and then to exercise
your given rights by voting on
June 20th, the way you feel is
best for the people and the town
of Cooleemee.
lions To Conduct
Broom Sale Monday
The Cooleemee Lions Club
will conduct their annual broom
sale on Monday, May 25, with a
door to door canvass throughout
the town beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The brooms are made by the
Industry For The Blind of
Greensboro and all proceeds
will go to the Sight Conservation
Fund.

As Egg Hatches
Little Monty Smith of Route 5,
Mocksville took his father,
Carman, literally when he
handed him a bird egg and told
him to hatch it. Monty held the
tiny egg cupped in his hand for
about an hour and told his
mother that it was moving.

Street, and Aubrey Wensil of
Davie Street have filed as can
didates for the town council and
will be voted on in the June 20th
election on the possible in
corporation of Cooleemee.
All persons living vithin the
temporary proposed bound
aries who are interested in filing
must do so by tomorrow's
(Thursday) deadline.
Applications may be picked
up from Dr. Ramey Kemp of
Mocksville, chairman of the
County Board of Elections, or
from the Cooleemee Journal of
fice. The application and filing
fee must be turned in to Dr.
Kemp or Mrs. Kemp by 12
o'clock noon Thursday, May 21.
