It will not be necessary for you to come to the library at any particular time or day to take part. Each person may read at his own rate of speed and from whatever types of books that he chooses providing that they are for his age level. Books from the Main library, the Cooleemee Branch, and from the bookmobile may be used in the program. This year the theme. Reading Is Out Of This World, will be based on a trip to the moon. Each reader will be an astro naut on a space flight; the number of books read by the individual will determine how quickly he will reach the moon The travel rate will be 20,000 miles per book and a large bulletin board in the library will plot each reader s progress. For each book read, a rocket will be placed by his name in orbit to the moon. When 10 books are read, the person will then be on CooUemee Joumd, W.dn«d«r, M«y 20,1970- the moon, and a flag will be put there to show his arrival. More than one trip can be made, providing 10 additional are read for each one-way trip. Each reader will receive a membership card upon enroll ing in the program and, upon completion of 20 books, a read ing certificate will be presented at a school assembly program in the fall. During the last week of the program, a party for all participants will be held at the main library and a full length Walt Disney movie will be shown. Full details of the summer program will be explained at Open House on Monday night. May 18 from 8:00 to 9:00 pjn. at the main library.
