C. was re leased over the weekend, but will be staying at their summer home at Ocean Drive for a couple of weeks before return ing home. He is much im proved. Following the cookout about 25 friends and relatives enjoyed boat riding and horseback riding. Specialist James Spry, son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Spry, Sr. o Cooleemee, recently returned home from a tour of duty in Vietnam. He will be assigned to Fort Bragg following his leave. Airman Barry Spry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Spry of Cooleemee is on leave prior to an assignment to Hawaii. He is married to the former Gail Athey, who plans to join him in Hawaii at a later date. MR. AND MRS. THEO HELLARD of Route 1, Salisbury have returned from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They flew by Delta Airlines and arrived back at Douglas Air port, Charlotte Sunday evening. JIM MILLER of Wilmington, Deleware arrived home Monday night to spend some time with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Miller. Mr. Miller an employee with DuPont Company, will be working in this vicinity for a couple of days. MR. AND MRS. RED WYRICK left Friday for Myrtle Beach, S. C. to attend a C. B. Jamboree over the weekend. They also spent Monday and Tuesday fishing at Little River, S. C. Sgt. Shoaf, Family Return From Thailand Tech. Sgt. and Mrs. Defoy Shoaf and two children arrived in California Monday morning from Thailand where Sgt. Shoaf completed a two year tour of duty with the U.S. Air Force. Their next assignment will be in South Dakota. Sgt. Shoaf is formerly from Cooleemee. - ■ ■■; Freida Foster To Marry Henry Ridge, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Foster of 15 Center Street, Cooleemee have announced the engagement of their daughter, Freida Lynn, to Henry Warren Ridge, Jr. of North Main Street, Mocksville. Miss Foster, a freshman at Appalachian State University, is a graduate of Davie High School. Mr. Ridge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Warren Ridge, will attend a Virginia Computer College this fall. The wedding is being planned for August 2, at the First Baptist Church, Cooleemee. Suzanne Martin Feted At Luncheon Miss Suzanne Martin of Mocksville, bride-elect of Terry D. Ridenhour, was guest of honor at a luncheon on Saturday at Catawba College's dining hall by Miss Margaret Black man and Miss Linda Price, classmates of Miss Martin's. There ware fourteen guests, all classmates of the bride-elect, attending the luncheon. They presented the honoree with a steam iron. Mayberry, Sr., of Main Street, Cooleemee, recently portrayed Elbridge in the Interpreter's Theatre presentation of "COME SLOWLY, EDEN" by Norman Rosten at East Tennessee State University, where he is a student. In addition to the role played, he was the lighting director for the play. Mr. Mayberry's sister, | "Tricia", is currently ap pearing in the Patchwork Players presentation of Murray Schisgal's "THE TIGER" at East Tennessee State University, where she is a junior. "TOE TIGER", a one act play, features Miss Mayberry in the female lead. The play is directed by Thomas F. Headley. Luncheon Honors Susan Brinegar In Charlotte • ' Miss Susan Brinegar, the June 21st bride-elect of Robert L. Wall, Jr., was honored at a luncheon in Charlotte on Saturday at the home of Mrs. William H. Benson. Mrs. Sam Latham of Mocksville was co hostess. The honoree wore a blue linen dress with white accessories to which she added a corsage of pink sweetheart roses, a gift of the hostesses. The Benson home was decorated with arrangements of spring flowers. Other guests were Mrs. Leonard Brinegar and Miss Mamie Wofford of Cooleemee, mother and aunt of the bride elect; Mrs. Robert Wall, the groom's mother; Mrs. Doug Wall, Miss Delia Hinkle of Mocksville, Mrs. James Courtney and Miss Carolyn Shore of Charlotte, Mrs. Grady Lewis and Mrs. Jack Vaugh of Walkertown. Mrs. Gregory Is Hoaored Mrs. Joe Gregory was honored at a bridal shower on Saturday evening at the North Cooleemee Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Hostesses were Mrs. Delano McCullough, Mrs. Bailey James and Mrs. Otis Canupp. The lace covered refreshment table was centered with an arrangement of pink and white peoonies. Refreshments of decorated cake squares, nuts, mints and punch were served. Conrad Nichols Celebrates 40th Conrad Nichols, formerly of Cooleemee, was given a sur prise cook out by his wife at his home in Spencer Tuesday night. The occasion was to celebrate his 40th birthday.
