Mrs. Virgie Deese of Troy,
N.C. has announced the engage
ment of her daughter, Hazel
Carolyn, to William Edward
Wilkins, son of the Reverend
and Mrs. W. H. Wilkins of Salis
bury, formerly of Cooleemee.
The wedding is being planned
for September 13, at Laurel Hill
Baptist Church in Troy.

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McDaniel of

of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron R. York
Jr. of Deadmon Road,
Mocksville, were married
Tuesday evening at the First
Baptist Church here.
The Reverend Charles Bur
chette officiated at the 8 p.m.
wedding. Gene Smith of
Mocksville, soloist, and Mike
Hendrix of Mocksville, organist,
furnished the music.
The bride, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Eugene Wilson,
of Edgewood Circle, was given
in marriage by her father.
She wore a formal gown of
imported organza and Alencon
lace with bateau neckline and
Camelot sleeves, finished with
wide cuffs of Alencon lace. The
same lace trimmed the A-line
skirt and bordered the
cathedral-length train. Her veil
was full-length mantilla of
illusion and lace, and she
carried a cascade of white
daisies centered with yellow
roses.
She also wore a gold heirloom
locket, which (nice belonged to
her maternal grandmother.
Mrs. Claude Tucker of Milton,
Florida, was her sister's
matron of honor and only at
tendant. She wore a flow-length
dress of celery green satin with
empire bodice and short
sleeves. Her headpiece was a
matching satin bow with
bouffant veil, and she carried a
cascade of yellow daisies.
The bridegroom's father was
best man. Joe Bailey of
Mocksville and Joe Tucker of
Advance ushered.
The couple will make their
home on Deadman Road, Route
3, Mocksville after July 11.
For a wedding trip to Myrtle
Beach, S.C. Mrs. York traveled
in a dress of blue and white
polyester knit and added a
corsage of yellow roses, lifted
from her wedding bouquet.
Mrs. York is employed at
Commercial Lapidaries, Ltd., in
Mocksville. She graduated from
Davie County High School in
1967 and Central State Beauty
College in Salisbury.
Mr. York is a 1967 graduate of
Davie County High School and
has served two years in the
United States Army, one of
which was in Vietnam. He is
presently associated in business
with his father in Mocksville.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson en
tertained after the ceremony
with a reception in the church
fellowship hall. The refresh
ment table was covered in white
lace over yellow linen,
decorated at the corners with
nosegays of white daisies tied
with yellow streamers. A tiered
wedding cake, iced in yellow
and green and topped with white
wedding bells, centered the
table. Silver Candelbra, holding
white tapers, flanked the cake.
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron E. York
Jr. were hots at an after
rehearsal party at an after
rehearsal party on Monday
night at the home of Mr. and
Mis. Joe Bailey of Deadmon
Road for the couple.
The refreshment table was
covered with beige lace,
holding an arrangement of
white glads and mums, flanked
by silver candelabra holding
green tapers.
Members of the wedding
party, families and friends
shared the occasion.

dress to which she added a

Saturday'B wind, rain, and
hail caused considerable
damages to the trailer park
owned by Tony Myers. One
trailer was over turned and
another blown off it's foun
dation. The barn belonging to
the W. B. Dudleys' was com
pletely destroyed, and the roof
of W. D. Painter's barn was
blown off on one side. A New
work shop of Brady Barbee's,
containing a welder and other
equipment, was badly
damaged as was die home of his
son, Brady Barbee Jr. The hail
wasnt too heavy and did most
of it's damage to the tomato
crops. Jimmy Myers had one
field that showed damage and
possible others that have not
been reported as yet.
Miss Dian Blackwell left
Monday by car for an extended
vacation to California. While
there, she plans to visit
Disneyland and other in
teresting tourist attractions.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorn Bryant of
Bfrminham, Alabama and Mr.
and Mrs. Mack Gatewood of
AAeville, were here over the
weekend with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. 0. T. Nesbit. They
came for the 61st wedding
anniversary of the Nesbits.

Mr. Murray is the son of Dr.
and Mrs. John J. Murray of
Cedar Rapids, lowa. A magna
cum laude graduate of Williams
College, be is a member of Phi
Beta Kappa. Dr. Murray is a
professor of history at Coe Col
lege. Grandparents of the pros
pective bridegroom are Mrs.
Walter Tomson of Palo Alto,
California, and Topeka, Kan
sas, and the late Mr. Tomson.
The couple plans to be mar
ried in Charleston in late Au
gust.

Florida are here this week with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Gillean, and other
relatives in North Wilkesboro.
Luther Morrison has returned
Cram a visit with his daughter
and family in New Port, Rhode

Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Harrison have recently
returned from Panama where
they had made their home for 26
years. While Mr. Harrison was
employed with the U. S.
Government there. They will be
living here now. They are
building a new home on the Old
Barber Junction Road.
