J—»*W.I 2 Family Happening At Hickory Hill A family happening took place at Hickory Hill Golf and Country Club of Mocksville on Saturday, July 18th. Events of swimming, horseshoe pitching, badmitton, and golf putting happened throughout die day. Following this was a cook out which the families prepared to gether of hotdogs, hamburgers and the trimmings, with gallons of home-made ice cream of all varieties for desert Entertainment followed with the Facile Deal Folk Singers, a group of local talent, per forming a number of selections from a variety of folk sonf£- The next act was most inter esting to watch and follow through their intricate steps, "The Twin City Twiriers" of Winston-Salem. Two squares were performed of modern square dancing for a delighted crowd of over 300 parents and children. The activity committee was so pleased at the response and are hopeful that such a pleasant day may happen again soon. Teachers Attend Ecology Class Teachers from Rowan, Davie and Salisbury City Schools currently participating in the Supplementary Education Center In-Service Workshop FRESHWATER AND MARINE ECOLOGY were on a coastal field trip to Beaufort, N. C. Monday and Tuesday, July 20 and 21. The group left by bus early Monday to visit the Beaufort Title 111 Regional Marine Science Center to study and collect sea specimen. Will Hon, project director, and his Title 111 staff worked with the dassduring their stay. A special related program was presented Monday night at the Research Center. The local Ecology class taught by Mrs. Beatrice H. Blount began on July 13 and will be completed on Friday, July 24. Davie County teachers participating are: Mrs. Mary W.
