Gaither assumed the duties of county coordinator in Stokes in late May, after first working in the headquarters of Yadkin Valley Economic Development District, Inc., the non-profit corporation that adminis ters community action programs in the four counties of Davie, Stokes, Yadkin and Surry. Mr. Gaither attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. for four years where he majored in political science and history. He served two years in the U.S. Army, being discharged in Dec., 1969 as a Personnel Management Specialist. He was awarded a National Defense Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. h Furchess Motors Davie New Dodge Dealership Furches Motor Company of Mocksville is now the authorized Chrysler-Plymouth - Dodge-Dodge Truck and Im perial dealer for Davie County. This announcement was issued jointly this week by J. D. Furches of Furches Motors and Duke Woo ten, who has operated the Mocksville Chrysler- Plymouth agency here for the past five years. Mr. Furches, owner and manager of Furches Motor Company, announced that his firm would offer the people of this area a wide choice of models and styles in automobiles and provide fac tory qualified service. Mr. Wooten will continued in the used car business at their location on US 64 (formerly Evans Garage). Furches Motors will continue to operate from their location at 225 Depot Street in Mocksville. However, until September Ist, cars may be purchased either at this location or at the Mocksville Chrysler-Plymouth site on Wilkesboro Street. In addition of Mr. Furches, the staff of Furches Motors includes: Richard Beeding, Dodge Car and Truck Sales Manager. Johnny Hendrix, Chrysler- Plymouth Sales Manager. Rex Davis, Used Car Sales Manager. Mrs. Charlotte Miller, Secretary; Mrs. Patricia Salmon, assistant secretary. Benny Proctor, Parts Manager. Housing Program The Northwest Housing Program's office in Rural Hall has been open two weeks and persons from four of the five counties served by the Program have applied for homeowner ship. Builders from each county have visited the office seeking answers to their questions about the Program's service to builders. The Northwest Housing Program is an arm of the Northwest Economic Development Commission with an office located in Rural Hall serving Davie, Forsyth, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties. Hie Program is designed to assist individuals with loans for homeownership. Builders interested in building under the FHA and VA Programs are encouraged to come by the office for in formation and assistance with their building plans. Persons interested in owning their own home may apply at fhe office Monday through Friday. There are no fees for our services. MANY THANKS!
