Hoover MARION, S.C. - Miss Debra Lynn Strickland, became the bride of Charlie Beuford Hoover Jr., of Cooleemee, N.C., on Sun day, September 6, at First United Methodist Church here. The Rev. M. L. Meadors Jr., officiated at the 4:30 p.m. cere mony. Mrs. Johnny C. Lane of New Bern, N.C., organist, Ted Lane of M ffllins, Miss Jan Rich ardson and Miss Nancy Lewis, soloist, presented the music. A reception followed in the church social hall. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Allen Strickland of Marion, was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal gown of white peau de soie and Chantilly lace, made with an empire bodice of lace with Victorian neckline and long Juliet sleeves. Garlands of lace detailed the skirt and chap el train, which were bordered with scalloped lace. Her elbow length, illusion veil was at tached to a headpiece of lace and pearl petals, and she car ried a prayer book, covered in lace and topped with a white orchid and satin streamers. Miss Martha Hoover of Cool eemee, N.C., attended as maid of honor. Miss Marie Strick land, Miss Carolyn Deberry of Camden, Miss Linda Gasque, Miss Dawn Humphries and Miss Isabel Clemmons were bridesmaids. MeLonie Dozier of Rains was flower girl, and Stephen Lane, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer. Miss Brenda Jordan, Miss Susan Brown of Camden, Mrs. Thomas Quick of Raleigh, N.C., Miss Kathy Smoot of Elkin, N.C., Mrs. Margaret L. Felker of Charlotte, N.C., and Miss Carla Foxworth were honorary bridesmaids. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Beuford Hoo ver of Cooleemee, N.C., had his father as best man. Allen Strickland, brother of the bride, ushered with Johnny Honeycutt of Chadbourn, N.C., Lynn Fish er of Albemarle, N.C., Tom Shuping of Salisbury, N.C., Donnie Everhardt of Cool eemee, N.C., and Bill Prevette of Wilmington, N.C. Mrs. Hoover is a graduate of Marion High School, and is attending King's College in Charlotte, N.C. Bridal Luncheon Mrs. Piercell Strickland, Mrs. Kenneth Strickland and Mrs. Edwin Strickland, aunts of the bride, were hostesses to the bridal luncheon for Miss Debra Strickland on Sunday at the home of Mrs. Bruce Altman of McEachern Heights. Places were set for 22 guests at appointed tables centered with arrangements of pink roses, pink begonias and ivy. A three-course luncheon was served. The bride-elect chose this oc casion to present gifts to her attendants. Miss Strickland was present ed a place setting in her chosen pattern of china by the hostess es. Bachelor's Luncheon The Red Carpet Restaurant was the setting on Sunday for the bachelor's luncheon for Charlie B. Hoover Jr. Ten guests enjoyed the buffet style luncheon and an hour of informal visiting. The bridegroom presented gifts to his ushers at this time. TRASHY PKOBIMS? He will attend the Uni versity of North Carolina in Charlotte, where they will live. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the social hall of the church. Greeting the guests and direct ing them to the reception hall were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Foxowrth, Mr. and Mrs. Gar rett Winesett and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Strickland of Dillon, S.C. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Lane introduced guests to the receiv ing line which was composed of the bridal couple, their parents, Mrs. W. J. Thompson, grand mother othe bride, and the at tendants. At the refreshment table, Mrs. Piercell Strickland of Camden and Mrs. Tom Shuping of Salisbury presided at twin punch bowls and the honorary bridesmaids served chicken salad sandwiches, creamed shrim in patty shells, cheese ripples, and nuts and mints.
