Hazel Carolyn Deese Weds Mr. William Edward Wilkins TROY Miss Hazel Carolyn Deese and William Edward Wil kins, son of the Rev. and Mrs. W.H. Wilkins of Route 10, Salis bury, were married here Sun day at Laurel Hill Baptist Church. The bridegroom's father offi ciated at the 3:30 p.m. ceremo ny. Mrs. Dian Wilkins of Kanna polis, soloist, and Mrs. Gladys Burrow, organist, presented the music. Mrs. Virgie Deese, mo'her of the bride, entertained afterwards with a reception in the fellowship hall. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother, Gerald Deese. She wore a gown of silk organza with scallops of re embroidered Chantilly lace and seed pearls on the camelot neck line and down the front giving a reddingote effect The camelot sleeves and A-line skirt, which extended into a chapel train, wore also embroidered in lace. Her floor-length mantilla of silk illusion was held in place by a Woodleaf News Mr. and Mrs. Summers Moore are spending several days this week in the mountains of North Carolina and Ten nessee. Miss Kathy Blackwell left the first of the week for Greensboro Womens College. Miss Lynn Wetmore will leave the last of the week for Western Carolina College at Cullowhee. Danny Dameron left Monday for his home at Chattanooga after spending several weeks here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Wetmore. Also visiting the Wetmores were Mr.' and Mrs. Sam Wetmore and John of Raleigh, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Means and children of Taccoa, Georgia. Mrs. Lula Koontz has re- prayer cap of lace and pearls. Her bouquet was daisies and pompons showered with sari streamers. Janis Deese attended as maid of honor for her sister. She wore a floor-length dress of melon crepe and lace with matching headpiece, and carried a nose gay of yellow pompons and daisises. Judy Evans of Roxhoro, Pat sy Wilkins of Salisbury, Patsy Kidd of Asheboro, Glenda Sneed of Rockingham, Janis Jillis and Toni Hendren were brides maids.' Their dresses were egg shell and melon crepe and lace with matching headpieces. They also carried nosegays of yellow daisies and pompons. Beth Deese of Star was flower girl, and Jerry Deese attended as ringbearer. The bridegroom had his twin brother, Bob Wilkins of Kanna polis, as best man. David Wil kins of Salisbury, Herb Jacobs of Carrollton, Ga., Frank Evans of Roxboro, Buddy Hunt of Mt. Gilead, Jerry Daniel and A.J. turned home from Charlotte and is recovering from eye surgery. Mrs. Kenneth Gillean recently spent several days with her father, Frank Cope, near Fork Church. Mr. Cope had undergone surgery at Davie Hospital; amputating his leg. A number of children and old railroad fans turned out last Saturday at the local station to see the Excursion train from Winston to Charlotte which is pulled by an old steam locomo tive, one of several of the South ern's engines that were saved from being scrapped. The en gine 4501, was bought and is owned by Paul Merriman of Chattanooga and is used for pleasure. Also to give others a chance to see a steam engine. Cooleemee Personals MR. AND MRS. V. W. WELL MAN of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida arrived Sunday to spend this week with her sister, Mrs. Mat tie Mae Jordan. MRS. NORMAN KUHN is vis iting here from Audsley, New York and will be here until next month. Mr. Kuhn will join her here in a couple of weeks. MR. AND MRS. HAROLD FOSTER and SONYA spent La bor Day weekend at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. MR. AND MRS. FREDDIE ELLIS spent the weekend fish ing on the North Carolina coast. MR. AND MRS. JUNIOR ELLIS spent Sunday in Char lotte where they attended the Winter Holiday show at the Merchandise Mart. MRS. ALBERT WAGNER and MR. AND MRS. JAMES W. HEAD and son spent Labor Day weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. John B. Wagner and family at Bremen Georgia. MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM IJAMES and son BILLY of Pine Ridge returned Sunday, August 30 from a week of visiting their dalighter, Mrs. Cecil McDaniel and family of Blanding, Utah. While there they visited the Grand Canyon; Mesa Verde and Ouray, Colorado and Little Deese ushered. For a wedding trip to the coast, Mrs. Wilkins changed into a J>rown and beige en semble with matching acces sories and added a corsage of daisies and pompons. The couple will live on Eldorado Street after September 17. Mrs. Wilkins is employed at Troy Lumber Company. She is a graduate of West Montgomery High School, and has studied secretarial science at Asheboro Commercial College. Mr. Wilkins has a B.S. degree in mathematics from Western Carolina University in Cul lowhee, and is currently teach ing at West Montgomery High School in Mt. Gilead. He also graduated from Davie County High School. Immunization Survey Slated For Cooleemee A survey taken annually to determine the extent to which people have been inoculated against communicable diseases will be made here the week of September 14 by the Bureau of the Census, according to Joseph R. Norwood, Director of the Bureau's regional office in Charlotte. The immunization survey is part of a national program coordinated by the U.S. Public Health Service. Information on immunization will be collected in conjunction with the Bu reau's monthly survey of em ployment and unemployment for the U.S. Department of La bor which provides a continuing measure of the economic health of the Nation as a whole and of its major regions. THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT dinner guests of Mrs. Bessie Naile were Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Jordan of Main Street and their daughter, Mrs. Frances Brooks of California. Mrs. Brooks re turned home Monday after spending the past two weeks here with her parents. MR. AND MRS. JAMES IJ AMES and children, Debbie, Faye and Johnny of Clifton Forge, Virginia; and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Ijames were the weekend visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carter of Joyner Street and Mr. John Ijames of Pine Ridge. JOHNNY MILLER of Wil mington returned home Mon day after spending more than a week here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Miller and after spending several days in Georgia with Capt. and Mrs. Clyde Roberts and family and Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Pierce, all former residents of Cool eemee. Miss Dianne Fulcher of Raleigh was also a weekend guest of the Millers.
