MARK HAN COCK, Wanda and Mark Mau rice of Atlanta, Georgia were the weekend guests of Mr. Han cock's father and mother-in law. Mr. and Mrs. James Han cock. PVT. JERRY RIDENHOUR of Fort Polk, Louisiana arrived home Thursday night to spend the holidays here with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Riden hour. He will return to Ft. Polk, following his leave. JAMES GREGORY returned to his home on Pine Ridge Road Friday from the V.A. Hospital in Durham, where he under went surgery on Wednesday. He is much improved. MRS. BESSIE CANUPP re mains a patient at Rowan Me morial Hospital and is expected to undergo surgery this week. MRS. JAY SMITH of Route 1, Harmony is a patient at Davie County Hospital for treatment and observation. Library News Be merry all, be merry all, With holly dress the festive hall; Prepare the song, the feast, the ball, To welcome merry Christ mas. W. R. Spencer The Christmas Open House held at the library on Monday night could aptly be described by this verse. The festive event was celebrated by a full house of guests who entered into the Christmas spirit as they en joyed carols, organ music, and a varied collection of holiday arts, crafts, and decorations. A special thanks goes out from the library staff to those who made this joyous affair possible: Mike Hendrix, Mrs.- Gene Smith, Peggy Robinson, The Young Musicians Choir, The Folk Advent Youth Group, The Christmas Carolers, the Library Committee of the Mocksville Woman's Club, and the members of the community who contributed to the arts and crafts exhibit. Also to the following Jaycees who fur nished the transportation of the organ to and from the library: Tom Drillette, Harold Odum, Freeman Barker, Ken Honeycutt, Buster Cleary, and A 1 Fullbright. Cadets Speak To Appointees At Wake Forest Local high school students who are future appointee aspi rants to the Air Force, Coast Guard, Military, and Naval academies will have an oppor tunity to hear about the aca demies "as they really are" directly from the cadets who presently are attending these academies. The services academy cadets will be home for the holidays and will meet in what is known as a "Grass Roots" program on Saturday, December 26, at 10:00 a.m. in De Tamble Auditorium, Wake Forest University. The program is designed for high school students who have applied or plan to apply for a nomination to one of these aca demies. Each cadet will explain some portion of academy life to the audience and tell it "like it is," pulling no punches. TURNER GREGORY of Pine Ridge Road remains a patient at the V.A. Hospital in Durham for treatment and observation. MR. AND MRS. ALLEN SNIPES and family were the weekend guests of his mother, Mrs. George P. Johnson and family of Erwin. TTiey also at tended the wedding of Miss Ann Stewart, formerly of Cool- Davie Hospital Increases Rates MOCKSVILLE - The Davie County Hospital has announced 1 that its present room rates will be increased, effective Feb. 1, 1971, to meet the increasing costs of operation. W. E. Roark, hospital admin istrator, announced the follow ing increases: Private rooms, from $32 to $34 per day to $36 to S3B; semi-private rooms, from S2B and S3O to s3l and $33, wards, from $25 to S2B; and nursery, from sl2 and sl4 to sl7 and $lB. Hospital officers, elected at the December board of direc tors meeting, include Wayne Eaton, chairman; V. G. Prim, vice chairman; and Mrs. Lois Shore, treasurer and temporary secretary. The board adopted a resolu tion of appreciation to Ted L. Junker, for 17 years of service to the board.; and forwarded let ters of appreciation to Charles L. Barnhardt, for five years of service, and to Knox Johnstone, for one year of service. Births SHERRY RENEE TREXLER Mr. and Mrs. David Trexler announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Thursday, December 17, at Davie County Hospital. The baby weighed eight pounds, eight ounces and has been named Sherry Renee. The maternal grandmother is Mrs. Edna Long of Cooleemee and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Trexler of Rockwell are the paternal grandparents. CHARLES DAVID CORRELL Mr. and Mrs. David Correll announce the birth of their sec ond child, a son, on December 10th at Rowan Memorial Hospi tal. The baby weighed six pounds, 14V2 ounces and has been named Charles David. They also have a daughter, Davia Elaine, two and one-half years of age. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Couch of Holiday Acres and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Correll also of Cooleemee. SC* INI eeniee, to Mr. Franklin W. Han cock. MR. AND MRS. NORMAN KUHN of Ardsley, New York will arrive here Thursday to spend the holidays with rela tives. MR. AND MRS.
