LAM RAD CLUB.
Mrs. A. C. Monk, Jr., was hostess
at an enjoyable meeting of the Lam
rad Club on Thursday afternoon. Fall
flowers in contrasting colors were
used with charming effect in the
rooms where bridge was pVayed. Mrs.
J. G. Spencer compiled high score
and received a lovely flower contain
er. Refreshments were served after
the games. Those enjoying the hos
pitality of the hostess, in addition to

HOME-COMING AT CHRISTIAN
CHURCH.
The summer is over! The fall is
here! And it is time to get busy with
the church work as well as with the
harvesting of crops. God has given
us a good harvest and we have had
a pleasant summer, but we are scat
tered. We must get together again.
To help us to come together, we
are planning Home-Coming for Sun
day, September, 19th. We desire
every member to be present and bring
a basket filled with good things to
eat, which we will spread under the
great oaks, and enjoy a great fellow
ship, one with another. (

MRS. JOYNER HOSTESS
Mrs. J. W. Joyner was hostess at
one of the most delightful bridge af
fairs of the season, on Tuesday after
noon, entertaining the members of
the Contract Club and additional
friends at nine tables. Guests were
greeted as they arrived by the hostess
and the house guest, Misa Helen Tyr
rell, of Richmond, Va.
A lovely setting for the party had
been achieved by the use of white
asters, dahlias, zinias, clematis and
snow-on-the-mountain, the punch table
being particularly beautiful with its
lace cover, glowing tapers and flow
ed arrangement. Mrs. Bert McCullum
served punch, with Mrs. Wm. Fisher
and Mrs. W. E. Joyner assisting.
At the conclusion of the games,
Mrs. Arthur F. Joyner was awarded
a hot roll cover as high score prize
for club members, Mrs. Jack Lewis
won the guest prize, a linen towel,
and sport handkerchiefs were pre
sented by the hostess to out-of-town,
guests, Mrs. Vance Tyrrell and
daughter, Miss Helen, Richmond, Va.,
and Mrs. Madeline H. Rountree,
Washington, D. C.
An ice course, further carrying out
the color motif of white and green,
was served.
Representatives from 20 counties
attended the recent farm manage
ment conference in Lincoln in Lin
coln county.
