BRUNSWICK STEW SUPPER Brunswick stew will feature the supper menu of the Woman's Club at the event being sponsored by them at the Country Club on Tuesday, October 22. Willis, Jr., son of Dc. and Mrs. W. M. Willis, of Fann ville, on July 3, 1940. The marriage took place in Elizabeth City. Mr. and Mrs. Willis are residing j at Smithfield, where Mr. Willis is associated with the Johnson Laundry and Dry Cleaners. SCOUT NEWS The Farmville Scouts of Troop 26 recently challenged the Greenville Scouts of Troop 33 to a relay race from Farmville to Greenville, using the scout pace?running 100 stepe and walking 100 steps. The 15 mile race was estimated to take three hours. The Farmville Suouts finished the race in three hours and 5 seconds, thus winning over the Greenville Scouts/ who had three hours and 80 seconds on. their record. Members of the Farmville Troop taking part were; Milton Williamson, Bob Paylor, G L. Ivey, Jr., James Bennett, Ceeil Lilley, Jr., Stewart McKeel, Clarence Kittrell, Marvin Horton, Howard Kittrell, Harry Davis and Billy Gregory. The guests returned to the chapter! room for the meetings which was] opened by the regent, Mrs. Tumage. I Mrs. C. S. Eagles was in cnarge ox the devotional exercises, which were based on the Lord's Prayer. The program was opened with the vocal selections, "The Flag Goes By" and "God Bless America" ren dered by Mrs. John Dwight Holmes with Mto. Henrietta -M. Williamson at the piano. Mrs. Prank W. Brown fit Green ville, program chairman, and leader of the afternoon program, presented Dr. R. L. Hilldrup, a member'of the faculty of East Carolina Teachen College, who gave a splendid insight into the causes and effects leading to the present economic, political and military situations in the European countries today as well as in our own. This was an informative program and was enjoyed by every one pres ent. Miss Tabitha DeVisconti was hos tess at an interesting meeting of the Literary Club at her borne, in which hospitable open fires and charming arrangements of scarlet zinnias and golden czototaria added to her graci ous welcome. In the business session, conducted by the president, Mrs. J.4 W. Joyner, reports from the recent meeting of the 15th district, held in Greenville, were given by the hostess, and the district president, Mrs* John B. Joy ner, the latter giving a summary of Mr. number's address on the subject of "Woman's Contribution to the World," delivered at the Golden Jubi lee celebration held by the Greenville Woman's Club on Monday evening prior to the district meet. Mrs. W. C. Askew read a timely article on "Freedom, The American Way," and the program was con cluded with a review of the hook, "Portrait of a Chef," a biographical sketch of Alexis Soyer, given by Mrs. J. H. Harris. Delicious refreshments in Hallo we'en colon were served by the hoe tees, assisted by Mrs. B. S. Shep pard. Dr. and Ifn^. XT Willis delight fully entertained the Couple Club this week at their home, which had been made most inviting with ar rangements of lovely mixed fall bloom. Mrs. M. V. Jones won the high score prize, a flower container, and Arthur F. Joyner the men's prize of toiletries. Dr. Chaa. E. Fitzgerald was awarded a potted plant as the guest prise. After the games, a delicious pineapple salad course and hot tea were served. Dr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald, Mrs. P. E. Jones and Mrs. A. W. Bobbitt shared with members in the pleas-^ urea of the evening. Members of the Contract Club en joyed an afternoon of bridge with Mrs. W. E. Joyner as hostess. The Joyner home with its' artistic ar rangements of fall flowers provided a oolorful setting. Mrs. W.
