Mrs. Ryon also extended a cordial welcome to Mrs. E. N. Pettaway, Mrs. Robert Monk and Mrs. Billy Willis, who Were presented as new members at this time. Mrs. Jesse Moye, State Junior Edi tor of "The Clubwoman," gave an interesting report of the recent coun cil and institute meeting held in Ral eigh. Announcement was made of the club's decision to act as grade mother for one of the primary grades in the local school Bin. Mabrey Polloard discussed an article writfcen~by Mrs. Whitehurst on National Defense. Following this Mrs. Curtis Flanggan gave a splendid review of the book, "Random Harvest," by James Hil ton. After adjournment the hostess served delicious refreshments. Special guests were Mrs. Bonnie Allen, Mrs. Tony Melton, Mrs. Linwood; Joyner, Mrs. Frank Williams and Mfs. Frank Lindsay. ? Contract Club Members of the Contract Club en joyed a morning amies of progres sions on Tuesday, with Mrs. Z. M. Whitehurst as hostess.
