Long leaf pine was used as a back ground for baskets of white chrysan themums and floor standards bearing white candles. Mantels were banked in ivy. Edward Lee Russell, brother of the bride, lighted the candles. Preceeding the ceremony, Mrs. A. (Q. Roebuck played a program of nuptial music. The bride, an attractive young woman of-much personal charm, wore a gold wool tailored dress with a brown felt hat and accessories were of a matching shade of brown. Her corsage was of talisman roses. The bride was graduated from the Farm-vine high school and attended the Flowers Business School in Wil son. She holds a position in the Register of Deeds office in Green ville. - The bridegroom was graduated from the Ayden high school. He has been connected with the Ficklen Tobacco Co., in Greenville, for sev eral years and is at present operat ing Suttons Station on the Green ville-Bethel highway. An informal reception was held by the bride's mother after the cere mony. The dining room table was centered with the bride's cake and illumined by white tapers. Mrs. Frank Harper and Mrs. Charles Mozingo served from either end of the tables Mr. and Mrs. Hall are at home at 409 Greene street, Greenville. When better newspapers are print ed more people will read them. H. M. Wilson conducts the opening devotional period. ; Following the business session, Hon. Marvin K. Blount, of Greenville, was presented by Mias Annie Perjans as the speaker of the evening. Mr. Blount spoke on the subject of "De mocracy and Citizenship," and cited the work of the Parent-Teacher As sociation as an example of Democra cy engaged in the business of de veloping a better citizenship. Mrs. Cherry Easley, program chairman, presented Miss Nellie,But ler, who sang a group of delightful selections, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Haywood Smith. The room attendance prize was won by the third grade, Miss Mar garet Lewis, teacher. Junior Woman's Club. The Junior WomaiA Club held an interesting meeting this week at the home of Mrs. Bryan Gaddy with Mrs. John Erwin Wilkerson as joint hos tess. Handsome chrysanthemums were used in the living room of the Gaddy home. Mrs. Jesse Moye, vice president, presided during the busi ness session, after which Mrs. Ma brey E. Pollard, club reporter, gave club activities from the North Caro lina Clubwoman. Mrs. Bfflie Willis and Mrs. Robert T. Monk conducted an interesting program in the f^rm of a Professor Quiz hour, based on current events and^other matters of interest with Mrs. C. S. Hotchkiss and Mrs. W. Alex Allen winning the potted plants offered as awards for the most cor rect answers. At the conclusion of the program, the hostess served delicious sand wiches, cookies, pickles and coffee. American Legion Auxiliary. The December American Legion Auxiliary meeting was featured with interesting and timely papers by Mrs. C. A. Tyson, whose subject was "Ladies In Service," and by Mm. W. B. McKeel on "The Articles of Faith in the American Way of Life." Mrs. P. E. Jones was program leader for the afternoon. ? The meeting was presided over by Mrs. C. H. Book Club. , Miss Mae Joyner was a gracious hostess this week, entertaining the Clio Book Club, a Greenville organi zation of which she is a.member. Bed berries, and forest greens were used as a setting for the meeting, held in the home of the hostess. A discussion oil Christinas seals and opportunities and plans for the club party featured the busi ness session. Miss Agnes FuUilove presented a delightful paper on I "American Folklore."
