Chapter House was the scene of the affair and was decor ated in the chosen odor note of green and white and yellow. The colonial mantels were banked with spina, forsythia and ivy and white car were in crystal holders. Floral rangements of spires, forsyt$la sad daffodils were used in further decor ation of the spacious reception room. Fourteen tables were spread with refreshment cover* and a sweet course, consisting of angel cake, topped with heavenly hash, and salt ed nuts, was served after the guest* had arrived. Boutonierres, carrying the prevailing colors, served as plate decorations. In the progressive bridge games, Miss Louise Farrier Woo the high score award, a ' hand painted vase; Mrs. Mabrey E. Pollard received the consolation, * novel pitcher, and Mrs. Maynand Thome was presented i coffe6 cup and saucer as winner of the rummy games. W, Blackwood, who un derwent a leg operation recently at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, returned to his home here, Monday, and is re cuperating nicely. He will be confined to his bed, however, for a five week period. R. E. Mayo, of Maury, has return ad from an extended business trip to New York, Gardner, Mass., Chicago and Kankakee, 111., Mr. Mayo was advised by the Florence Stove Com pany factories at Gardner and Kan kakee that they would supply from 50,000 Jto 100,000 burner parts for Florence-Mayo Ourers by July 1. MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED Mrs. Abbie Shirley of near Wal srtanburg announces the marriage of her daughter, Ruby, to Mr. Walter G. Gay, Jr., of' Fannville, on Sunday evening, March the seventeenth. The ceremony was performed in the Christian Church personage, by the pastor, Rev. C. B. Masbbum, in the presence of members of the im mediate families.
