"The buffet was attractive with groups of Easter bunnies, chicks and nests of Easter eggs. Mrs. Frank Dupree, Jr., poured coffee. Ann Pollard presented Mrs. Munden with a large green and yellow decorated Easter basket which held the gifts. Twenty-five guests were fax attend ance at each of these going-away parties. MERRY MATRONS Mrs. J. T. Thome graciously en tertained the Merry Matrons Club and additional guests including Mrs. E. R. CI egg, Mrs' R. W. Rader, Mrs. F. M. Davis, Miss Elisabeth Davis and Miss Edna Robinson on Tuesday afternoon. Lovely arrangements at pansies and lilies of the valley decorated the home and each guest was presented a talisman rosebud from the garden of Mrs. Marvin Jones. These were pass ed on a silver tray. Bobbitt, president, gave a splendid program on the subject, "Sweet Chariot," basing her remarks on the following thoughts: For two hundred years following the arrival of the first slaves we had no data for the history of negro songs. Colored people have an excel lent ear for music. The first wave of popular interest in negro songs grew out of the negro minstrel show. LANG'S 4-H CLUB The Lang's 4-H Club meeting, held April 4 at the home of Cornelia Mills, was called to order by Ruth Moore, president. Secretary's report was given by Gayle Flanagan, after which the boys and girls separated for studies. For the girls, Miss Biixell dismiss ed "Planning Your Wardrobe." In a dress review Havel Games won first place and Gayle Flanagan, sec ond, among the Juniors; Cornelia Mills, first place and Ruth Moore, sec ond, among the seniors. Judges were Mrs. Pruden, Mrs. Turn age and Mrs. Gowans. A recreation period was enjoyed. Cornelia Mills and Mary Frances Hobgood served coca-colas, rits crackers and salted peanuts.
