FAK FROM RETIRED The story of a wise investment 60 yean old, that ha* not fluctuated with the value of the dollar, but grown steadily in worth and value throughout the years, and is bringing to the investor large dividends of love, confidence and gratitude, was related, Wednesday, by those taking part in a program honoring Miss Annie Perkins, veteran educator, in recognition of achievements of the past and of enduring inspiration to ?the present and future. This investment has also brought to Miss Annie the exuberance, opti mism, courage and vision of the very young and been to her a secret wellspring of eternal youth. She has served with ability and high purpose, a sincere Christian gentlewoman, whose devotion to this community will be remembered long and cherished always. Far from retiring, except from her position as a teacher in the school, Miss Annie will go on and on, achiev ing and playing an important part in the progress of Farmville in a service that will reveal itself in an ever wid ening circle. We would remind her that "The path of the just is as the shining light, that shmeth more and more unto the perfect day," and that it is only the godly who can face advanc ing years with the calm assurance of Robert Browning? "Grow old along with me. The best is yet to be. The last of life for which The first was made." Miss Annie retired! Nonsense. I ATTENDED ANNIE PEKKINfS _ I DAY EVENT HERE, WED. Miss Perkins has watched and has been closely identified with the-pub lic "thool system of Fsrmville from its very inadequate beginnings to its present position of high standards among the schools of our State. Her work and unselfishneen to duty have marked her as a true leader in the educational fie id. In addition to the very fine charac teristics which have always motivated Miss Annie's every thought and deed, she has endeared herself to the hearts and minds of hundreds of peo ple in our community. There is hard ly a man or woman in tw? communi ty whose life has not been affected and uplifted by the splendid example and high counsel of Miss Annie. She has taught members of three genera tions, and it is with extreme regret that we of the School Board see her leave her accustomed and familiar place among the halls and in the councils of our teachers. Therefore, be it resolved that this Board does extend to Miss Annie Perkins its sincerest felicitations and best wishes for her long continuing happiness and good health, along with the undying thanks and ardently ex pressed gratitude of this Board and the entire citisenry of Farmville for her magnanimous offerings of service to our community. Be it further resolved that a copy of these Resolutions be spread on the minutes of the Farmville Board of Education, that a copy be presented to Miss Annie Perkins and that a copy be mailed to the "Farmville En terprise" for publication.
