Christian Church Groups Hold Final Meetings The four groups of the Christian Church Woman's Council held inter esting meetings this week completing reports for tile current church year and rev lew lug past accomplishments. Group 1, which has been led this year by Mrs. Frank Davis, Jr., si lbs. Louise Harris, met Monday eve ning in the home of Mrs. J. Berry Taylor who gave a dollar to the treas ury instead of serving. Mrs. Zeb Whitehurst, gave the devotional and led the group in a discussion of articles from the World Cell. Mrs. Arch Flanagan was hostess to Group 2 Wednesday evening and wi assisted in receiving by her daughter, Sue. The meeting opened with prayer. Following a business period Mrs. R. D. Rouse, chairman, commended mem bers on their splendid cooperation throughout the year, reporting that all godh had botn met and that the financial quota had been oversub scribed.' A discussion of Hidden Answers was led by Mrs. Carrie Belle Jeynef. In the social period Mrs. Flanagan, assisted by her daughter, Gayle Cheek, conducted a music contest Refreshments were vanilla frappfe] and cookies. V - ?' Group S met with Mrs. Charles M. Duke Tuesday evening. Mrs. Ted Albritton, chairman, presided over a business session. At this time Mrs. Ernest Russell was made group lead er for the new church year and Mrs. T. R. Mizelle, secretary. The hostess served ice cream sun daes and cookies. At Group 4's meeting Monday eve ig in the home of Mrs. L. E. Jones, Mrs. H. L. Barrett presided; in the absence of-the leader, Mrs. Lee Cor bitt. Mrs. L. E. Turnage gave the devo tional, .choosing as her subject, "Re sponsibility." i The Scripture was Romans 12:1-21. After a business period, a round RESOLUTIONS Be it resolved, that The Kiwanis Club of Farmville on this, the 27th day of May, 1946, in its regular meet ing session, does set aside a period m which to pay a high and sincere tribute to Miss Annie Perkins for her one-half century of untiring, loyal, patriotic and educational ser vice to the thousands who have grown up in this community. And it is the further wish and prayer of every member of this Club that her useful life may be extended and that she may spend many yearn happily in our midst.
