The first regular monthly meeting
of the Walstonburg PTA was Ivfld in
| the high school auditorium on Than
day evening, Sept. 6, at 8:00 o'clock.
The meeting was called to order by
the president Mrs. Henry Newell and
the devotional was conducted by Miaa
Ramona Rouse. The devotional was
followed by several sacred musical se
lections which were rendered.hy high
school girls. These selections con
sisted of * vocal solo by Jane Kit
trell; a vocal duet by Doris Wheeler
and Joyce Reuse, both accompanied
by Mrs. C. H. Walston; and n piano
solo- by Jean Redick.
The minutda of the last meeting
were read by the P. T. A. secretary,
Mrs. Sharps Newton, and after their
approval the treasurer's report was
given by Isaac Rouse. Remarks were
made by Principal J. R. Peeler about
the needs of the school and making
plana to start the- annual tobacco con
test in tlw school. Miss Wright's
tenth grade won the attendance prise
lb the roll call of parents.
After the various committees for
'the year ware read by the secretary,
the president asked the teachers to
form a receiving line at the entrance
of the auditorium to be introduced to
[the parents. After the introductions,
refreshments were served by the
| social committee, headed by Mrs. Sam
Jenkins. At' the close at the social
I hour the meeting was adjourned to
| meet again on the first Thursday in
October.
