OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOLS OPENED TO MEMBERS OF ERC The Army has advanced another inducement to veterans of World War n to join the Enlisted Corps by opening the -doors of Officer Candidate Schools to enlisted men of the Reserve, Master -Sgt. Virgil B. Iindsey, commanding officer of the Greenville sub-station of the Army Recruiting Service said today. The new directive, which has just been received from Headquarters, Third Army, in Atlanta, Ga., states that members of the Enlisted Reserve Corps who attend and graduate from Officer Candidate Schools will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the Officer's Reserve Corps. They will not berequired to serve on active duty with-the Regular Amy, but may apply for such duty if they wMjrcjg ERC graduates of Officer Candi date Schools will be required, to serve a three year period with the Offi cers Reserve Corps. This period will be waived, however, if the man applies for a tour of active duty with the Regular Army. Sergeant Lindsey states that the Recruiting Sfervjee is currently cm ducting a drive among former vicemen in order to build up a strong Enlisted Reserve Corps, and invites any man interested to visit the local Recruiting Station for full particu lars on the benefits and advantages to he obtained by joining the Corps.
