The store room on the corner of Main and Marietta streets form erly occupied by Mr. Doras' Coon will be used by Mr. Hin son as storage room for bananas. Mr. and Mrs. Lawis Beraayed. The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Lewis died Wednes day at 12 o’clock. The fnneral services were conducted at the home on Marietta street yester day morning at 10 o’clock by Rev. W. H. It waa decided to re quest the presence of represen tatives from all towns and town ships in the county at the meet ing in the city ball Thursday night, April Stb, at which meet ing a permanent organization for the celebration will be made. A temporary Finance Com mittee composed of Messrs. T. M. Faysaonx sod W. T. Ran kin were elected. A program committee was also elected, con sisting of Messrs. I. K. Dixon, C. B. Armstrong, J. H. Separk, the Chairman and Secretaries, with instructions to inrlto Gov ernor Glenn to deliver an ad dress. Everybody present seemed enthusiastic over the idea of a celebration and it was decided to make the event the greatest of its kind the connty baa ever mittee is already at work and are meeting with fine success. The case was settled in Dallas yester day by compromise. Manager B. B. Gardner received $150 and his team $20 apiece. Mrs. Gas flake Dead. The sad news announcing the death of Mrs Gas. Hoke in Lincolntou was received by friends in Gastonia yesterday afternoon about 3 o’clock. Mrs. Hoke had been sick for about six weeks and her death was caused by blood poison from a surgical operation. M'iJ Hoke was formerly Miss Jennie Johnson, daughter of Rev. and Mrs R. Z. Johnson sod a sister of Lient. Com. R. Z. Johnson of U. S. Navy. Boak Club. The Book Club was entertain, ed Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. J. P. Culp. Shakespeare’s Win ter’s Tale being the subject, a response to the Roll Call was made with a quotation from this play. A synopsis of the play was read before the Clrb by Mrs. £. H. Tuttle. Refresh ments in four courses were served in the dining-room. In addition to the members of the Club a number of guests were present to enjoy the even ing with Mrs. Culp. Harried. Mr. Thomas Lowdertnilk, the popular marketraan at the Loray is receiving the congratulations of bia friends upon his marriage Tuesday afternoon.
