Dr. Boyce, President of tbe Due West Female College, that Mr. Carnegie has offered to give that institution $10,000 for the erection of a new college or dormitory building upon the condition that the friends of the Institution contribute an equal amount. The college is one of most useful institution* in tbe State. It has .educated several thousand young women and has made good its claim to public favor. We arc very glad, iu deed, that Mr. Caroegie has taken notice of it and wish thst he had placed no conditions up on his gift, bnt we have no doubt that the friends of the in stitution will meet bis subscrip tion in the proper spirit.
