Raukin, Will Cook, J. B. Boyd and T. N. Kendrick, en joyed a good catch of Ash at Tuckaaecpe, Friday afternoon. More than 100 fish were brought home by the party. Death at Leray. Mrs. Jane Sclvey, aged 54 years, wife of Mr. J. G. Selvey, died at her home at the Loray Mill IfifA VMthfdau aftaynAAN r\f paralysis. Mrs. Selvey had been sick for some time and leaves a large family of children. The remains will be taken to Hickory Grove to-day for burial. Ban Bemad. A barn belonging to Mrs. Ida Abernethy near Alexis was burned last Wednesday night about midnight. It contained her granary, feed, tools, cotton seed, and three bates of cotton. It is not known how tha fire originated. Mrs. Abernethy ia a widow with a family of children, and as there was no insnrance the loss falls heavily upon them. Baa* Ball. The Loray team of Gastonia and Mtn. Island will play ball on the McAdenville grounds next Satnidsy. This will be the first game between these two teams this season. The three Mtn. Island, McAdenville and Gastonia have played three games, and all three games have been hard fought to the finish. Next Saturday's gsme will be no exception. 0Mfsa Beys Via. Mrs. Horn lied in the Presbyterian hospital yesterday following an operation. Mra. Horn was about 35 years old and waa a Miaa Horn before her marriage. Dinah baa been in trouble before and waa serv ing out tbe stuff to all comers when captured. The booty cap tured was as follows: 2 gallons of Ohio peach brandy, 1 gallon 4X rye, 4 2-gallon jugs, 4 1-gal Ion Jugs, anas number of empty esses. Dinah was bound over to court yesterday afternoon under a $50 bond in one case by Esq. S. S. Morris and in two cases by Mayor Dixon, bond $50 in each case. John Rudisill who aided Dinah waa also sent to jail by Mayor Dixon in default of $50 bond. iNiuair Items. Bessemer City, May 21.—Mr. K. M. Kiser is having sand banted to make cement blocks.
