Mexico, delivered a message" . from that country telling of the manners and customs or tne people, their need for the gospel, and the methods that were being pursu ed in the effort to improve their re ligious life.. Mrs. K. P. Flennlken of WInnsDo ro, made a talk in which ene recog nized the great work that tne mra stonarles were doing, and mission aries present made appropriate re sponses. Quite an interesting incident was the recital of the Twenty-third Pbalni by a little Mexican girl, who came from Mexico with Miss Jennie Gettys of Lesslie. The reports of the officers showed a good deal of work done, and a healthy condition of the Union gen erally. Miss Minnie Alexander, one of the church's missionaries to India and who, after a stay of seven years ia that; country is at home on her hist furlough, gave a mo6t interest ixig and instructive talk of her work in India. Miss Alexander spoke or the noble work that she and other missionaries were doing in this far away land and told many interesting things of the people there, lllustrat ing her talk by a number of articles. She had a number of lovely nana work pieces, some of it being dona by the men and boys. The costumes of the country were illustrated Dy Misses Jean Roddey Black, Alethla Fennell, Agnes Barron and Master John A. Black who were dressec in some costumes that Miss Alexander had with her. Miss- Alexandr sang a song in Hindu and closed her very interesting address by reciting tne Lord's Prayer in the Hindu lan guage. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mrs. A. F. Whitesiaes of Gastonia, X. C: first vice presi dent, Mrs. J. Roddey Miller, of Rock Hill: second vice president, Mrs. E u. Hunter, or Aharon: third vice president, Mrs. K. P. Flenniken, of Winnsboro: recording secretary. Mrs. Ira P. Ransom, of Charlotte. corresponding secretary and treas urer. Mrs. J. T. Blgham. of Chester; presbyterial secretary, Mrs. A. G. Brice, of Chester; junior secretary, Mrs. S. D. McLaughlin, of Charlotte: thanks offering secretary, Mrs. E. A. Carson, of Charlotte. There was a pretty full attend ance on the annual convention of the Woman's Missionary Union in Rock Hill, on Tuesday night, Wed nesday and yesterday, and the meet ing was quite a success from every standpoint. Mrs. Nannie M. Bon ner of Due West, presided. The convention was welcomed in an address by Mrs. Roddey Miller and greetings from the local church es were responded to by Mrs Ira B. Betterment Association November 6 and 7 Lecture byBr. C. H. Shut. The first floral fair to be given Dy the colored Woman' Betterment Association will be held Thursday and Friday, November 6th and 7th, in Winona Hall on North Yora street near the Highland graded school. This association was only organized in June and this is tne first event of the kind it has at tempted. The doors will be opened at noon each day and the nignt ex. ercises in connection with the floral exhibit will begin at 8:30 o'clock. An admission fee of five cents will be charged. On each of the two nights a lit erary program wil be- rendered. Fri day night Dr C. H. New Real Estate and Insurance Company Getting Ready for Busi ness To Develop New Properties. Since the receipt of a charter a few dayg ago, as mentioned in a pre vious Issue of The Gazette, the Price Real Estate & Insurance Co's. stock holders have held a meeting and elected the following board of di rectors: J. P. Reid, S. N. Boyce, J. L. Price and W. G. Queen. Trie directors in turn held a meeting ana chose the following officers: Presi dent. J. P. Reid: vice-president, S. N. Boyce; secretary and treasurer, J. L. Price. This new concern has a paid-in-capital of $10,000 and an authorized apital of $50,000.
