The removal to Camp Greene of the 5&V Fourth United States, infantry regi y ment, commanded by Captain Wall, jjBpy' was completed early yesterday, the regiment being assigned quarters in Wife:".?: ' reservation No. 10, near the base hospital. This regiment has a strength W'r of about 50 ofllcers and 1,200 enlisted men, and is the first ol the six reglments of regulars ordered here from Gettysburg. The other regiments orj . dered from Gettysburg to Camp Greene are the Seventh, Fifty-seventh, Fifty-eighth, Fifty-ninth, Sixtieth and Sixty-flrst, having a combined strength j - * ? Ortfl n nH I t or approximately v..-~? l >r A detachment of the Fourth was the first regular army soldiers to arrive at | Camp Greene, announcement to this effect being made Saturday afternoon at headquarters of General Coulter, commander of Camp Greene. The Fourth is sadly lacking officers ~ of the grades higher than captain. The L" battalions are commanded by captains, as there., la at present not a . major attached to the regiment Neither has the regiment a colone! or lieutenant SSir- colonel. Officers of the regiment do not know JBk..'' why they were sent here, "unless it was to get us into a camp where the winter weather will not be ao severe as at Gettysburg." If the regiment is to be recruited to the maximum war Wpj-". strength of about 2.500 officers and gg'u men, none of the officers have any gp-. knowledge of such intention on the .- part of the war department, though iwsjv- they regard this as likely. This applies '.'j_: with equal accuracy to the other regiments ordered here, some of which have arrived. Ki| LIEUTENANTS ASSIGNED AS g|P ; AIDS TO GEN. WEDGEWOOD mm Lieutenant William A. Increased Its activities at Camp Greene Saturday evening with the Inauguration of a course of entertainments In the big Chautauqua tent erected near the postoffice. These entertainments will be under the direction of the section of entertainment of the national war work council. The opening attraction was the Scottish Musical Comedy company, a group of Scottish artists, now resident in Boston, Mass. The company Is presenting a musical playlet based on Robert Burns' poem, the "Cotter's Saturday Night." The sketch follows the thought of the poem In delightful fashion, and makes a rare vehicle fo rthe Introduction of the gems of Scottish song. Jest, story and dance. The audience of soldiers last evening was an enthusiastic one, greeting each jest and quip with laughter and roundly applauding the singing. Despite the fact that the Scotch dialect was freely used, the boys seemed to lose nothing. The company is composed of singers and players of no mean ability. The sketch was constructed by John E. Daniels, a Boston newspaper man. who takes the part of the farmer. The Scottish Musical Comedy company has been engaged to sing for the soldiers at all the army cantonments. From here they go to Camp Wadsworth, at Spartanburg. MACQArUllftFTTft PASTOR PREACHES TO SOLDIERS "The Man God Threw Away," was the subject of the sermon delivered by Rev. P. H. McDowell. D. D., of Melrose, Mass., yesterday afternoon to the regular army and national guard soldiers at Camp Greene. Dr. McDowell recently arrived at the camp to assume his duties as camp pastor at Camp Greene for the Baptist denomination, havihg been released by his church, the First Baptist church, of Melrose, Mass. He was the choice of the Northern and Southern Baptist conventions for this work. A large number of soldiers heard | the address of Dr. McDowell, during ivhich he proved himself a fine pulpit ] crator. i -- r Almost daily analyses show that Jjj j| Ihe Velvet Kind " I iff "THE CREAM OF ICE CREAMS- fffl is 100% Pure!
