THE OTWS-JODTW AL, EAETORD, N. C. THURSDAY, FTB. 85th, I94t Music Composer s Week Observed in Raeford Schools schools but didn't quite finish' the fourth grade, when she was 10. It was then that her mother died and she went to Fannin County, Ga., to make her home with an aunt, Mrs. Lorence Ma this, her father having gone to Indiana to work. At McCaysville, Ga near Canton, she met R. G. Foster and on Septem ber 2, 1941, when he was 20, they were married. They lived at Ep worth, Ga for the next year while Foster worked on the Tennessee Val ley authority's Ocoee dam. He is a native of Fannin county, Ga, In September, 1942, he was induc ted into the army and is now sta tioned at Camp Burner near Dur ham. He hasn't seen his daughter yet. And neither has Mrs. Foster's fa ther seen his grandchild, for he's in the army, too, statoned at Fort Ben jamin Harrison, Ind. PAGE EIGHT It is with pleasure that we write the school news this week. Since it is American Music Composer's Week. Music is the greatest of the Arts. It gives a great opportunity for a livelihood in all it tonus tlian any other profession. It was sung when the Saviour was born, we use it in m;r joyous, happy weddings, and it is tin most consoling thing at fun erals when we depart ths life.
