Clark, fur a few days before leaving for Camp Croft. S. C. Frank Cox, Jr., has been spending i few weeks with his grandmother, Mrs. F. M. Clark. He will leave Fri day to visit his father at Camp Sutton, N. C. Mrs. Lila Blue is in Greensboro vis iting her sister, Mrs. Josephine Car lysle this week. From there she will go to Aniston, Ala. to stay a while with her son Harry and his family. Kalherine Cobb of Smithfield is vis iting Jennie Warren. Mrs. Herbert McLean spent last Friday in Camden, S C. with Lt. Her bert McLean, who is stationed with the 64th A. A. F. F. T. D. - Mrs. Thomas McLauchlin attended the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Ratch ford, in Cast, nia last week. Mrs. G. W. Brown, Mrs. J. R. Hamp ton and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Wuuten of Portsmouth, Va., spent several days last week at Myrtle Beach. Sfjt. and Mrs. Neil Senter stripped in Raeiord a short while last Thurs day on their way to Camp Forrest, Tnnn I ' Earl Yarbornnsh and Robert Cur rie of Balti vme are spending their vacation at their respective homes. Miss Joyce McLean, daughter of Mr and Mrs. John Dune McLean of Aber deen and Miss Bettie Culbreth Mc Lean of the county have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. F B. Sexton. Mrs. Bont'in Thomas and M's. Dob Conk report a delightful trip to Fay etteville. They had no trouble pelting reservations both ways n the relia ble A. & R. O Sirs. Lewis and Mrs. Mi-Gee Hostesses Mrs. R. B. Lewis and Mis. Alan Mc Gee entertained on Wednesday after noon at the home c.f Mrs. Lewis last week with several tables of bridge, honoring their cousin, Mrs. Talbeit N'unnally of Thomasvillc, Ga. and Mrs. Guy Taylor of Kinston. Alter several hours of bridge the hostesses served a delicious salad plate follow ed- by an ice course. They presented the hostesses with pretty gifts and gave an attractive prize to Mrs. John Walker for holding high score. O Rev. and Mrs. Clegg spent Friday night in Raeford. They were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Up church that night. Mr. Clegg o nduct ed funeral services for Mr. M. Gainev O BIRTH ANXOl X( KMKXT Mrs. H. K Holland was called lo Montreal last week on account of the illness of her mother. Mr. Holland joined her there this week. Mr. and Mrs. George Weaver and small son of Winsdor spent a few days last week with his mother, Mrs. Jen nie Weaver. George is the editor of the Bertie Ledger-Advance at Wind sor, N. C. Mrs. J. A. Green who has been spending some time at Fort Bragg re turned home Tuesday night. She vis ited Major J. W. Sample and family. With the Army People (Contributed.) Born to Lt. and Mrs. Darnell who live in Margaret Currie Bethune's house, a daughter. Miss Mary Ashbury of Richmond is visiting Mrs. Eason Balch. I'NION SERVICES AT PRESBYTER IAN C IIIRCH SUNDAY EVENING Sgt. and Mrs. Grant have an apart ment at Mr. J. D. McLeod's several miles out of town on the Red Springs road. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walters of Nor folk, Va. spent the week end in town. Joan Walters returned with them to Norfolk. Capt. and Mrs. Bradley, have mov ed from Mrs. Lawrence Poole's into an apartment at Mrs. C. H. Giles. Capt Bradley is stationed at Mackall. Regular services will be held in the Presbyterian Church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. H. K. Holland, preaching. He will speak on the subject. ' Unfailing Faith Amid Falling Foundations". The pas tor is in Montreat this week attend ing a conference on Adult Education but will return to Raeiord in time for the Sunday services. The Union Sunday even rg Service will be held in the Presbyterian Church with the pastor of the Church preaching. He will speax on tm- sub ject, "The Christian on the Home Front". A cordiuly invitation is ex tended to the public lo attend. O The Perfect Hostess Mr. and M' s. Roger DiX' n and sons are spending this week with relatives i in Oxford. I Misses Hattie and Katie Margaret Eiouyer arc spending this week in New York. Little Dur.iiU- Davis, who was very ill in High.smith's H.spital last week is much better and is at home. His parents hope that he will be well enough to have his tonsils remove J this week. Willie Walters of Portsmouth. Va. is spending a few days at home with his parents. O Little Miss Gor? Has Lawn Parly Fanette Gore entertained at a lawn paity Friday evening from 7:30 to 9:311 in honor of Clara F.liabeth Ram sey of Marshall who is visiting her. Misses Audrey Brunkhurst and Eli zabeth Gore directed the games and contests. Florence Cameron, Jane McKeithan, Clara Elizabeth Ramsey and Lilmar Sue Gatlin won prizes in various contests. Mrs. Arthur D. Goie served fruit pumh and cooki;s. O Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Scate and children of Wilson are spending this week with Mrs. C. W. Seate. A number of the Mackall officer's wives went to the Camp Monday hop ing io witness the Review given for General Henri Girand. those who ac companied him from Washington but were disappointed as the Air borne Section was restricted. Mrs. J. Ik Mclntyre and Billie re turned Friday from a visit to Florida. They visited Tampa and West Palm Beach. Mrs. H. C. McLauchlin and John are spending ten days in Montreat.
