Overseas Mail For
Christmas
MRS. TAPP AND
MRS GRAHAM HOSTESSES
A pretty party of the early fall
was that given last Thursday by Mrs.
Arch Graham and Mrs. Frank Tapp at
the home of Mrs. Tapp on Harris Av
enue. Beautiful fall flowers in pink and
lavender graced the tables in living
and dining room which were thrown
together. Five tables were placed for
bridge, which was played from 10:30
'til one when a delicious hot luncheon
in two courses was served.
Mrs. M. T. Poovey won high score
prize and Mrs. Benton Thomas second
high.

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENTS ,
Lt. and Mrs. D. S. Tolar of Colum
bia, S. C. announce the birth of a
daughter, Margaret Rosanne, at Sta
tion Hospital, Fort Jackson on Octo
ber 4. Mrs. Tolar is the former Miss
Rebecca Bridges of Raeford. Lt. To
lar left for overseas duty in August.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry McAr
thur a son, Kenneth Dixon, on Sep
tember 26 at the University of Virgi
nia Hospital, Charlottesville.

cy Clark, wants the folks of the coun
ty reminded again that October 15 is
the final date for mailing Christmas
packages to the boys in the Army at
overseas stations. Packages for those
in the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard
may be mailed as late as October 31st,
he says.

Sandy Grove Church
The annual Ingathering at Sandy
Grove Methodist Church will be held
October 14. A barbecue dinner will
be served.
Bethel Day, Oct. 21
The ingathering for the Bethel con
gregation will be held at the Bethel
Community house this year, on Octo
ber 21, it was announced yesterday
by Ryan McBryde.

boro spent several days visiting in
Raeford, Red Springs, and Fayette
ville last week. He took his mother
who had been in this section for sev
eral weeks and her sister Miss Lil De
vane of Red Springs to High Point.

ham county, spent the week end with
her parents.

BRIDE-ELECT HONORED
On Friday evening Mrs. Walter
Barrington entertained at her home
for Miss Martha Brandon, with sev
eral tables of bridge.
The spacious living room was de
corated with potted plants and fall
flowers.
Mrs. Clyde Mclnnis won high score
and was awarded a prize. Miss Bran
don, bride elect, was given a prize of
Roseville Pottery.
Delicious chicken salad and coffee
were served by the hostess assisted
by Mrs. Bill Upchurch.

Miss Virginia Veasey has returned
to the Rocky Mount Sanitarium after
studying at a Washington hospital for
special work for six months. Miss
Veasey is a graduate of the Rocky
Mount institution's school of nursing.
