PACE NINE Social Items - Personals : i Ij CAMERON SPEED RITES SOLEMNIZED SUNDAY In a charmingly simply ceremony, Miss Mary Davis Speed of Hender son, became the bride of Pvt. Hubert Cameron of Raeford and Camp Mac kail Sunday afternn at four o'clock in the Methodist church of Bennettes ville, S. C. The Rev. Mr. Dunbar, pastor of the church, officiated using the double ring ceremony. Floor baskets of white gladioli and fern formed the background for the vows. A program of nuptial organ rpiisic was played by Miss Grace Mitchell of Bcnnettesville. The Wed ding March from "Lohengrin" was used for the processional and that of Mendelssohn for the recessional. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Rose Speed and was given away by her brother, Flight Instructor Robert Speed of the Ral eigh branch of C. A. P. Harriet Suz anne Cameron, niece of the bride groom was flower girl. Tom Came ron was the best man. The bride wore a light blue woolen suit, fur trimmed, a matching blue hat with veil, black accessories, and a shoulder bouquet of orchids. After the ceremony the wedding party and guests were entertained informally at the home of Mr. A. P. Brceden in Benncttsville with Mrs. R. C. Charles as hostess. Mrs. Cameron is the daughter of Mrs. A. P. Speed and the late Mr. Speed of Louisburg, N. C. She was graduated from Louisburg College and holds a secretarial position with the Rose Co. in Henderson. The bridegroom is the sen of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Cameron of Raeford. He attended Louisburg College and was graduated fr.:m Randolph Macon Military Institute and the Thermo COTIIRAN VALENCIA Lt. Fletcher P. Cotheran of Camp Haan, Cal., and Miss Gloria Valencia of Los Angeles were married in Los Angeles Saturday evening December 4, at 6:30 o'clock. Lt. Cothran is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Cothran of Red Springs, Route 3. CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY AT DARLINGTON, S. C. J. L. Hobson of Rt. two has return ed home from visits with two daugh ters at Darlinton, S. C. Mr. Hobson went down Thanksgiving week to spend the holidays and to celebrate his 76th birthday anniversary with them. Mr. Hobson states that he is enjoying excellent health and hasn't been seriously ill since his young- manhood. O Mrs. Julian Blue had her mother Mrs. Floyd and other members of her family from Fairmont to a family dinner Sunday. There were eighteen out-of.town guests, all relatives. Born on Sunday Dec. 12 to Cadet and Mrs. James McDiarmid, a son. This is the second child. Mrs. Mc Diarmid and children are with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Williamson, while husband is in Buffalo, N. Y. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Upehurch are spending this week in Washington and Baltimore. They will visit their daughter, Mrs. Tommie Caulk in Washington and Mr. Upehurch will attend sales at the cattle market in Batimore. Currie's circle served supper in the undercroft of the Pres byteiian church Sunday night to visiting soldiers. Capt. and Mrs. Lamnndo and Lt. and Mrs. Curran are leaving lor 'A'ir homes in New York this week to spend the holidays.
