Major and Mrs. Brunkhurst before assuming her new duties in Falls at Erskine college and attend Marion Gailin was quite sick for cveral days last week. Mrs. Hugh Lowe spent several days the first of the week with her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Scott Poole. Mrs. A. K. Currie went to Charlotte with Mrs. Lowe on Wednesday and will attend the May Day exercises at Queen's college Friday. Miss Isabelle Bethune, who has spent the past month in Raeford, will return to Washington Friday of this week, where she has accepted a posi tion in a bank. Starr MoMillan, Jr., Boz Bethune and Carr Stevens of Wilmington, spent the week end with their families in town. Miss Beth McDonald, who teaches in the city schools at Sanford, spent the week end with h"er mother, Mrs. N. A. McDonald at Timberland. buffet supper in Red Springs on last Thursday night. Miss Shaw is a junior in home economics at Flora Macdonald college. Mrs. G. W. Belk and Lt. and Mis. Hubert Belk of Gastonia were guests of Mrs. G. W. Belk's sister, Mrs. Hal lie Gatlin, Monday and Monday night. Lt. Belk, USNR, has recently return ed from the South Paoific. He had been on Okinawa. Mr. and Mrs. Israel Mann are spending this week in New York. Mrs. Marcus Snith entertained with three tables of bridge yesterday after noon and will also be hostess again on Saturday afternoon in honor of her house guest from Lumberton.
