DANCE PUPILS IS RECITAL FRIDAY Becton Bass of Fayetteville. will present his dancing students in re cital on Friday night, June 1, at 8:30 o'clock in the Hoke county high school auditorium. CONK'S PUPILS IN RECITAL FRIDAY Mrs. Robert Conk will present her expression pupils In recital on Fri day night, May 5, at Sight o'clock in the Hoke County high school audi torium. Those taking part in the re cital are Harriet Suzanne Cameron. Eloise Upchurch, Lillian Scarborough. Lilmar Sue Gatlin, Sandra Halperin, Virginia McNeill, Benita Hutchison, Lynn Conk, Lana Terrell and Doris Keith. The musical interludes in the program will be reifiered by Miss Buena Baldwin and Miss Bobbie Mayfield. The public is cordially invited to attend the recital. -n- DINNER BRIDGE VERY MUCH ENJOYED The dinner bridge which Mrs.. Marshall Thomas and Mrs. N. B. Blue gave for their many friends last Thursday evening was an out standing social event of the season. Eight tables were placed in the spacious living room and parlor. Flower arrangements in these rooms were very lovely. Covers were laid for four at each table and dinner was served at 7:30 P. M. Bridge was then enjoyed until a late hour. Mrs. Chandler Roberts was awarded the prize for raking high score and Mrs. Benton Thomas captured the floating prize. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gatlin took their little girl, Betsy Ross, to Fay etteville for a tonsilectomy. ANNOUNCEMENTS 1. EDUCATIONAL CLUB HEARS PROGRAM ON POETRY-MUSIC The Educational department of the Raeford Woman's club held its May meeting Tuesday, May 22, at 3.30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. William McFadyen, with Mrs. A. K. Stevens and Mrs. William Lamont serving as assistant hostesses. Mrs. Tommie Upchurch, chairman, presided over business session. Re ports were made by bond chairman and program committee. Mrs. Clyde Upchurch, Jr., led the program with a discussion of part poetry plays in one's life and music in early child hood. Miss 'Mary Stuart Covington read 1 Flanders Field" by McCrae," Maid en's Secret'' by Wilcox and "So Long As There Are Homes," by Crowell. Miss Margaret Smoot, accompanied by Mrs. Clyde Upchurch, sang "When I hava Sung My Song," by Charles and "The Star," by Rogers. At the conclusion of the program the hostesses served ice -cream and cookies. 0 MRS. STUART PRESENTS PUPILS IN RECITAL On Friday evening Mrs. Arah Gat lin Stuart's piano pupils were pre sented in their annual spring re cital. This was a public recital and was held in the Hoke county high school auditorium. An appreciative crowd was present to see and hear these young musicians who acquitted themselves with much credit to their teacher and their own native ability.
