Monday evening when they enter

Tables with covers laid for six
teen were placed in the living room
and music room at the Upchurch
home. A wealth of summer flowers
made an attractive background for
the party. A delicious supper was
enjoyed, after which tables were
cleared and Bingo was played. Five
prizes were awarded as follows: Miss
Agnes Mae Johnson, Mrs. Walter
Barrington, Miss Bootsie Barrington,
Mrs. Paul Dickson, Jr., and Mrs.
James Grey of Charlotte. The hos
tesses gave beautiful gifts to their
honor guests.

have received the unit presidential
citation, the air medal and two oak
loaf clusters, and the European
theatre ribbon with three battle par
ticipation stars. Sgt. Baiey is the
brother of Pvt. Edwarj Baicy, who
is stationed in Germany.

Presbyterian church will meet Mon
day, June 4, at 4 p. m. in the ladies
parlor.

tives for a family gathering and
supper Wednesday night of this week.

terian Junior college in Maxton, and

Shadwell. the former Lt. Lola Leach
Bain and Major Shadwell were mar
ried in England last fall and are
now at home on leave. Other house
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leach are
Mrs. J. H. Currie, formerly Miss Car
rie Leach of Way Cross, Ga'., and
Miss Janie Leach of Pinehurst.

is at home for the summer.
Miss Mollie Cameron came home
from Salem college Monday and
brought with her four of her class
mates. Misses Jane Angus, Mary
Lillian Campbell, Nancy Hill Davis
and Pescud Hanes. They left Tues
day morning for Myrtle Beach where
they will spend a week.
Mrs. Frances Fitzsimmons left Fri
day of last week for Scarsdale, N.
V , to join Lt. Fitzsimmons after
having made a short visit to her pa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. Ryan McBryde
W. J. McDiarmid is quite sick at
Highsmith hospital. Several people
from Raeford have been called over
to give hi:ii blood transfusions.
